Dru Blair Textures and FX course

Looks like a fantastic course, this will obviously lift you to another level, great results but I must say the one which has really caught my eye is the flaming letter, I am really envious of that particular one as I have yet to work out how to attempt flames of any sort.

:)
Yes that was a good project! The rust, metal,Denim,Fire, bark, leather,Smoke and Florida from space kinda stood out to me!! Got my hair and fur technique tuned up too! All students at the beginning of the course were like WTF for a lot of the projects! Dru made it simple to understand and puts 110% into the training- example - in the superman project the inside of the S has 3 different types of texture including stone! He designed all the refs to give us maximum opportunity for deepen our skill set! Just have to incorporate the new knowledge into my work!! Can't say enough good things about the course! Would do it again with different projects for sure :)

Sounds like you had a good time and learnt heaps. I hope you showed Dru some Aussie hospitality :)
You mean like taking him to the airport and getting stuck in traffic for 3.5hrs...it was great to get to know him without being taught! Such a decent human! All the students were humbled whilst being taught with many shared glances of enlightenment :)

Stuck in traffic for that long is almost unheard of -- did you bribe traffic management to make all traffic light red ?
I hope he didn't miss his plane.
Did he get chance for some Aussie brews or even a glass of red ?

Sounds like a full on, but fun time. Glad you got so much out of it, and felt it was worthwhile. You'll be going from strength to strength :)

Actually he missed his plane when a storm came through and trashed the planes at Brisbane!!! He just messaged me!! Aussie weather is tuff as...

"Beautiful one day.. ratshit the next" lol
If I didn't know better I'd say you got hit with what we had late Friday early Saturday.

So he's now stuck at the airport contemplating his belly button. He should catch up on the forum... oh wait, maybe he is! Maybe he's in stealth mode!! :ninja:

HI DRU

We got that on sat too! Going to be a very stormy summer this year, I can feel it!!! He was put in a hotel though!

It seems this course is must have:thumbsup: The result is obvious:thumbsup: Can't say less.
Paul, how many of the textures you've been taught, can be applied to urethane paints and curved surface (like automotive, moto, etc)? I think not all of them.

I'm not 100% but I think a lot of it could be, there were a few auto boys attending who seemed to have an idea, especially for backgrounds,

Did you sleep well MacD, thinking of all that texturing and how you can apply it ?
I did JackEb:) thank you! Back in jail brings you back to reality quickly:) looking forward to further study, Dru has allowed me to post some SBS pics not much info as that wouldn't be fair to him! If there is a certain project that really stands out that I have a few pics for let me know:)

I wonder what the newbies think when you comment about being 'back in Jail' lollol

pick ONE !!! seriously .... ONE ???

for me it would be tough pic between the smoke and ..... ummm.....oooooo..... ahhhhhhh...... the bark intrigues me, the denim could be useful,

Smoke I think, that could also tranisition into flames ? maybe ? but it would be a good start.

but the fur would be good too.....

as would hair ..........

I DONT KNOW !!!! someone else can pick, my brain just melted ! ! !

Ok I will choose the best one from the pics I took :)

I'm sure it would have bee a lot to take in. But you have done yourself proud. If you're not then you should be, cos I am and I'm sure others here are too!
Dru must be pleased when he sees students practicing what they've learnt and actually trying to make sure the technique sticks rather than just attend and assume it's easy sailing from there.

Variation on the smoke or inversed then candies l, stylised quick work just to see how it would come out, I think it looks clean and trippy:)
