Hey everyone!

I'm new to the site and airbrushing in general. I bought a larger bundle of stuff for a fairly good price to get myself started and found that some of it isn't exactly useful for what I want to be painting. With that being said I have two things for sale and may be adding a few more. I'm basing my prices off of what they are listed at on Amazon so if I'm way off with my pricing please feel free to chime in. Like I said, I'm new.

Sotar 2020 Airbrush
-brand new in the box/sealed

Looking for $90 CAD shipped

Badger Minitaire Paint set
-the vast majority of these paints are unopened but some have been used a tiny bit.

Looking for $110 CAD shipped

I saw in another post you state from Ontario, CA...is that Canada Or California? I noted you are asking for Canadian funds, so if you are in Ontario, where abouts? I would be interested in the Sotar.....What size of needle is it?
Cheers

I'm in Ontario, CANADA! Brantford to be more specific.

As for the needle size, I'm not entirely sure. Is there any way to tell without un-packaging it?

It's 0.2, it is (was) badger's detail brush, and I reckon you would have loads of fun with it Tony.:)

Nothing has replaced it, they just don't make it anymore but I think they do still make parts for it or parts from other models fit it, but seeing as you are in Ireland you have to take into consideration how easy or hard or costly can get parts if you should need them, they're hard to come by where I am without high postage costs.

In answer to your other thread, go with wicked, checkout Simon Murray, he's from your neck of the woods and a super cool dude, you can find him on YouTube or just Google him, he promotes all wicked products and demonstrates them in his videos, I've never heard much complaining about wicked and our @Squishy is addicted to them:)

Sotar's can still be had pretty regularly on sites like Amazon, and Badger's online store, webairbrush.com. As is a common course with Badger, they didn't really discontinue them, but morhped them into the next line and they basically became the "Renegade" series of brushes. The heads, needles, etc are all the same, with the back handle being different, as well as the side of the brush where they milled flats for the Renegade series...

The Sotar is far from being the same as the Renegade series. Completely different head design and Renegades have a user replaceable packing seal. The Sotar is the same as the 100 and 150 series.

What is the same between the Sotar and the 100 150 series? Completely different head design between Sotar and Renegade? Really?

The heads on the the Sotar, 100 and 150 has a removable base and the nozzle screws in. On the Renegades the base is attached to the body and the nozzle is a drop in one held in place with a retaining ring.

No screw in nozzle on the Sotar - it has a tapered base that fits in a pocket, and the Krome is the only one they made with a replaceable packing the other brushes in the Renegade series use the same needle packing as Sotar - if anything all Badger did was to machine the base of the sotar head onto the brush body to eliminate one seal (I will check this to confirm) - the rest of the head assembly is exactly the same.

Just for clarity, I should mention that I do not have a Sotar, I have two, as well as each of the 100's and a 150 :). I chose not to buy a Renegade because I felt is was redundant to the Sotar, with the exception that they offer a larger color cup - something that I do not require.

You are right about the nozzle base. The body is exactly the same as the 100 with the small cup. They even made special side feed Sotars using the 100 side feed body. You only need head and needle to make a 100/150 a Sotar.

Straying a bit far from the original question "what happened to the Sotar" - and my response is still that they became the Renegade series. What you are saying is that a single thread pitch carried over from the 100/150 series into the Sotar. What I am saying is that the entire head/nozzle assembly (what makes a Sotar a Sotar) carried over into the Renegade series of brushes...

So they no longer make a brush with "Sotar 20/20" stamped on the side of it:)
