Hi all,

I'm new to all of this and recently bought a second hand setup. It came with an airbrush (required a very good clean) but I can't find any information on the brand.

Text: ELIZ DP D JAPAN

I can't say for sure - but to me it looks like a Chinese import branded with a store name. Eliz I think is a common way for shortening a proper name...

Possible - I think what's throwing me is the "DP D JAPAN" - seems to suggest a model line but really I have no idea. It came with an Iwata compressor so i'm not ready to write it off as a piece of junk just yet.

I would guess that DP and D are model and head size, and Japan the location where the store is - this is just a kind of educated guess on my part based on some others I have seen. While not a given, the small details on handle of the brush you have pictured are a very common feature on imports.

I think i'm in agreement that the "ELIZ" is probably the store name - It would have been in Sydney though. Are there any custom branded airbrushes coming out of Japan?

I can disassemble it, are there any tells that I can look for regarding build quality?

no guarantee that is would have from Sydney. Airbrushes are bought globally. It would be possible to get onto a generic airbrush factory and have any name you wanted lasered onto the side of it.

Oh for sure, I meant the store was probably setup in Sydney (as that's where I am). Wouldn't make sense to have Japan lasered onto the side unless it's a complete con job - which is possible but I don't think it would be the case.

I think i'll give it a good clean and replace the needle and see if it's worth its weight in steel/chrome/brass. :)
