You have some debris stuck inside your nozzle, it is only affecting your strokes when you close the trigger to stop paint, you can clean it out using a soft sharpened tooth pick or carefully twisting you needle with light forward pressure and give it a good blast.

i tried the needle idea you mentioned mate but still no joy... must be a boulder in there haha

There is definitely something in there or your paint is no good, try taking the nozzle out and soaking it in acetone for a few minutes.

Dots at the beginning/end of a line can also be the result of wrong technique. Are you possibly stopping movement before the paint is stopped. ?

You should be stopping paint,(trigger forward), air (trigger up) , movement , in that order. Its very easy to forget to keep it moving.

It seems reasonable to try to paint a dot, i.e. make a quick trigger openclose, then draw a line an close the trigger while the brush is moving. I have learned that hard way how hard it is to close the trigger while keeping the brush moving. I use a bit of clear contact paper as a point to end the line and deliberately overshoot.

yeah this was a definite concern of mine however i cant even do a dot without the paint blotching out... i have airbrush restorer and i think the issue may be the first part the needle passes through as i dont recall taking that apart on my first clean... will keep you guys posted thanks for the advice as always its greatly appreciated

what paint are you using ? it may need to be reduced a little more.

drop the nozzle into the restorer, remove any seals you see. let it soak for an hour or two, then use a long bristle artist brush to 'poke' inside the nozzle to shift anything stubborn.

If you are sure it is not technique, then it is likely you need to soak and clean the nozzle, sounds like the needle isn't seating properly, and extra paint is forced out. You'd be amazed at what hides in there, even when you think its clean.

im using wicked detail paint reduced 2 reducer to 1 paint... its a 0.5 needle set up... yea its like when i close the trigger i get a "firework" effect splatter (painting on aluminium composite) ... really annoyed me last night to the point i nearly flung in the towel... but i persevered just glad i wasnt painting for anything other than practice... would have been a total waste of time

Most commonly it is caused by shutting of the paint air and stopping the strike all at once. This leaves a small ball of paint on the tip of the needle that is shot off in one spot with the last bit of air that passes out the nozzle. It is very common and sometimes even more common with a finer needle set up.

Now that's a whole different story:) spider ing is usually caused by over-thinning or too high pressure, when you thin your paint, you should normally reduce pressure to accommodate, I belive your brush is 0.5 , in that case lowering your pressure would cause graininess in your layers, so if you want more control or more transparency you would be better to add a transparent medium rather than reduce, this is all just trial and error till you find the happy mix that rocks your boat.

If you have any transparent Base, try mixing that fifty fifty with your paint with no thinning/reducing and see how that goes, or just try your paint neat as it comes.

As you can see yourself, your paint is being blown in all directions, this is clear indication of your pressure being to high for your mix, I would have a working pressure 5-7 psi for your mix with a 0.5 nozzle.

The short story = nothing wrong with your brush:) play around with your ratios, your mix is more suited to 0.2 or less detail brush.

thanks extremely much for your reply... i have auto air transparent base so i will mix up a cheeky bottle of that with my wicked detail and see what happens... perhaps i will now need to purchase a good detail airbrush so i can use this over thinned paint... thanks again my friend you have saved many a hair being pulled out my head :D

would this be the cause of it doing this as i shut off the paint aswell he yeah? it seems to only do this mad spider effect when i shut OFF the trigger rather than when im actually pulling the trigger back... when the paint is on it flows ok thanks again

Sometimes over thinning can cause your paint to separate prematurely and I would guess that that could be your cause in that respect, I would dump that mix if the advice in my other post works and I have a feeling it will, now and again we have to throw a little money away in order to save a lot more, don't take chances I always say.

No harm though in cleaning your brush as prescribed before trying out your new mix:)
