Holding a airbrush steady?

CHÉRIE

Mac-Valve Maestro!
Hey guys :p

When I try go in with more finer detail, I don't have a very steady grip and I end up having a little shake, is there any ways I can fix that? Maybe some sort of exercises I can do? :) Or is it all about practice?

Have a goooood airbrushing day everyone! :D

Use two hands. One hand rests on the substrate while the 2nd hand (with airbrush) rests on the first hand.. airbrush tutor has a video of this. I'm not sure if it was in the 'how to control an airbrush' or not

Thank you :) And I will have a look at the Airbrush tutor and see how it's done :p

Other than the two hand way of holding and using the pinky touching the board the is not a lot you can do. One big reason is you may be squeezing to hard on the brush. A free hand shield can always help to creat edges or if you are creating a line you can sometimes use a fine line brush or colored pencil. Not every element has to be done with the airbrush. It is just one tool among many to create your art. Use anything and everything.

I think I do hold the airbrush too hard, because I end up hurting my hand, so will try loosen up a bit :p And I will definitely try use other tools in order to help myself out a bit :) Thank you!

I see you got all the answers to your problem , try to hold the airbrush like it is a part of your hand and the only thing you notice is the trigger or better your trigger finger .
a gripfilter / inline water trap under the airbrush gives you a better feel/ grip on the airbrush

Thank you :p I do have to get an inline water trap anyways so thank goodness that can help :D When I did my session last night I had to keep telling myself to relax my grip! It made a difference :) Just have to keep reminding myself until it becomes natural
