Sticky trigger iwata revolution

Draxden

Double Actioner
Hey guys! So here lately I've been having problems with my airbrush. The trigger has been sticking pretty often lately. It keeps spraying air even after I left off the trigger. It's not really interfered with painting. It's just annoying, and something thy does kind of throw me off.

Could this be caused by lube? I've taken apart yr valve assembly multiple times, it only fixes it briefly though. Any insight would be amazing!

I was cleaning it earlier this morning. I popped an additional piece out that I wasn't even aware was in there. Along with a oring. It was a small brass tube like piece that was slimed with lube. Woul I need to clean that part too? Also what would be the best cleaning solution to use?

You could clean it all just with dry tissues but white spirit would speed up the process, although don't use that on the o ring or any other rubber parts, and yes, clean the brass plunger too:) if you are unsure of the parts you can find a schematic of your brush on Google images.

Lube will gum up over time. Iwata recommended to me to jut put a little petroleum jelly on the top side of the O ring where the trigger slides down in. You need to take the air valve body off to get to the O ring and use a toothpick to just touch a tiny dab on the top side.

Also never soak this part of the airbrush in restorer because the rubber O rings will swell.

Ok, thanks to you awesome people. My trigger seems to be doing pretty good now. (Edit: actually now my trigger is doing worse than it was before...) However I've found another problem. After everything I took it apart completely and made sure everything was clean. Now it's really hard to pull back on the trigger. The needle is having a harder time going through the needle packing screw. It's not even tight. I've lubed up my needle, and still it's much harder to pull back. Could I have put it back on incorrectly? Spraying for 5inutes killed my hand, and I've gone hours before this happened.

I cannot seem to get the hang of the internals. Does anyone know of maybe a video I can watch for the revolution of the valve body cleaning or something? Idk if I'm misunderstanding you guys, or if I'm that big of an airbrush noob.

You may have caught the packing when you installed the needle,Might want to check it and if its torn replace it

its possible you've screwed in #14 to far, unscrew the needle chuck (#16) to release the needle, then check the trigger tension screw (#14) If you've wound it in all the way, back it off a couple of full turns. gently push the needle forward, and tighten the needle chuck test and repeat if necessary

Did you do anything with part#9? Check that the piston on the trigger is down inside the air-valve and not "folded" back or forward. is your needle going through the trigger not around the trigger. Did you over tighten #14? you can back that off but I suspect that your trigger isn't seated properly.

I've now read the problem again and I think you're on the right track @Maple Art. I remember almost doing something similar with my 'knock off' brush in the early days, luckily something didn't feel right and I disassembled and tried again before bending a needle.

I tightened the needle packing screw up a little bit. But I've since then taken it out, and put it back in. I screwed it in and stopped the second I felt any tension whatsoever. As far as #14 goes, it's always been screwed in all the way, and I've never had any problems. I checked the needle packing screw it looks fine, no tears or anything like that, so I tried to put the needle through it while it's out of the airbrush, and I'm getting the same exact results. There is way more friction than there ever was before.

I don't know what sort of seal is in the packing screw but is there a slim chance that you used solvent/isopropyl or something similar to clean it and it's swollen ? You may need to replace it if that's the case

I put some acetone on the end of a Qtip to clean some dried paint out of it now that I think about it...I accidently left a small about of paint in the bottom of the cup. But that was a while back, like 3 weeks ago or more. I just took the packing screw out about 2 days ago for the first time.

Looking online though I found that the ring that's in it is a PTFE solvent-proof ring. At least that's what it said when I was looking it up to order a new one.

Does anybody please, know the dimensions of the o-ring (21)? I have the same AB and almost had the same problem but i lost it when reassembled. I'll buy the beers next time...;)
