I try make Leo from ninja turtle, i used frisket, but i dont like too much the result...kids coloring in books ? practise making 2 dimensional objects look 3 dimensional.
as mark said, there are some great starter pieces on the airbrush tutor site, you'll need to register first though, you don't use the same sign in that you do here.

try using paper shields rather than using frisket to cover. lower your airpressure so you minimise overspray, you're off to a good start, you'll get there but it can be frustrating as you are finding out

I try monocrhom, is frustated whe you can make nothing of good. [emoji20]learn to paint monochrome first before you go with colors , it will teach you to paint shapes, shades and the right values
