They are telling everyone to not use the 4030 as a intercoat on the candy because you use 4030 as a carrier for the candy....It will not seal and will cause bleed thru being the same as used in the candy
Use something different like trans base or the clear sealer to put a barrier between the candy and the clear or for other graphics

twood is right, you need the 4030 as carrier for the dye, but you need a dissimilar product to intercoat. (4030 was originally marketed as an intercoat clear, but that changed because of bleed through). Two light coats of 4004 trans base works well, but not for multiple layers as it can reactivate the first layer (apparently). They have bought out a new product called 4040, which has a gloss finish, and can be used for multiple layers - although its recommended to keep an eye on overall paint thickness. Also you can use a urethane clear if you are set up for it safely.

I believe I used 4030 in paint to help the spraying but used a trans clear i between coats but can't say number currently not home but pretty positive
My skulls are f up because trying to think of a way blocking over lap but center came more white no fing clue
Was about to spay a coat of the urethane down under skulls and start over
Have to get job I have 4 days till camper and need golf cart

Here's what I use over the candy 2.0 it seals it great and you can paint right over it (with water based paint anyway)
Its made for tire rims so its pretty tuff too!
