Thickness of 4030

I would say thats it's an old bottle , the Labels on the newer bottles are "green". There is a suggested mixing ratio guide, you can see it here: https://www.mapleairbrushsupplies.com/collections/technical-data-application-guides - I use 4030 primarily with my Candy 2o but no other additives, just straight 4030. I recently used it as an "inter-coat" and sprayed it straight out of the bottle with no issues .
Thanks for the reply Maple. I spoke to the vendor and they asked me to bring the bottle in to compare it to their stock. They think it probably is faulty and are happy to exchange it. It does have the Green Label that says Balancing Clear, so it seems it's just a bad bottle. I will use the tech sheet though, so thanks for the link [emoji3]

Thats great!

paint and chemicals can actually start to seperate and go bad. its old sometimes if you get paint from local shops its older than large chains.

I have an update for anyone who's interested.
I emailed Createx Colors to ask their opinion on my bottle of 4030, they replied very quickly saying that it did sound like there was a problem with my bottle. They asked what size I'd bought, my shipping address and have sent a replacement bottle along with some stickers (always nice) and the new / current Createx Catalogue. You can't ask for a lot more from a manufacturer [emoji3].
I haven't been able to try it yet, but I can literally see the difference between the two bottles. If I shake them side by side, the new one is a lot thinner so the agitator moves much more freely through the product. I've also bought some acetone to try turning my 4012 into 4020 (with respirator usage of course).
I'm excited to give it a try.
Anyhow, I thought that experiencing such good service from Createx warranted a mention.

Well done Createx

Always nice when a company backs up its products.
Just remember, only 5-10% acetone to 4012.

Im curious where you got this info.

It was on my suppliers website. The info is now over 12 months old but it’s a starting point if you just want to play rather than buy a whole bottle and find out it’s not going to do what you want

just be careful guys. acetone and rubber o-rings dont like each other! btw i have used 4030 as a "clear coat" on my kiteboard "grim reaper" artwork. no issue at all. but i diluted it with a water i think. but had no problems at all.
