USA Chicago airbrush Midwest airbrush?

Basstrack238

Mac-Valve Maestro!
I did some looking and I found Midwest airbrush and it looks very similar to the old Chicago airbrush site. Address is Chicago. I wonder what gives. I used to buy from them because they were close and I got stuff quick. Anyone know if they are the same company just different name. Looks like coast and spraygunner will be getting more business....

I am 99% sure it is the same person/business. I have no idea how he just started back up again - as many suppliers will not sell to him any longer. I am gonna wait and see what type of reviews the business gets for the next year or so before deciding to spend any money there...

I’ve crossed a couple of mails with them, they said me that they were chicago employe and bought all the inventary from them and start a new and completelly different company and they aren’t even in the same building. Is it true? I don’t know!

I am kind of like Dave G on this one I will wait for some feed back on service , But it is easy to say new business , New ownership and really no be that.
Maybe we can get @KenBadger to give us a little more insight on it.

They used the same talk, new owner, moving to new building, etc near the end of the old Chicago Airbrush days. I am pretty sure it is the exact same person that was running the show at the end of days for Chicago...

Funny thing is I thought about it recently. When the reincarnation would happen and someone from the US would tell the news about it.

Web shop interface is like old school site.
You say the same talks... True reincarnation.
I doubt it's possible to get good reputation after past cooperation with people.

Look what Mr. Google shows:D

T-shirts shop it says. And it doesn't look that big as Marcos was told (they bough the inventory...):(. Massive building for the inventory of the shop, what do you think?
What inventory? Did they ever have it?

My decision is to buy from a couple of real existing US shops, that I've bought from without any issues and more over having good service as it must be.

I wonder why people would go back into the same business again. What do they expect? People who never dealt with them?

Why give these guys a chance when you have Coast Airbrush who has done more for airbrushing than anything I've heard Chicago airbrush do?

Yeah, I'm wondering what the deal is. It's fishy. FOR sure. I always wanted to go to the old store front but hate the big city so I stayed away.

No, it's a completely different company. Chicago Airbrush Supply was a website/DBA owned by a company called Awakening Avatar Ent. who also owned: Artsupply.com, Genesis Art Supply, and some sites selling display boards and printing supplies. The owner was always eccentric but really went nutty when he over extended himself and could not sort out the finances and ultimately went bankrupt in the worst way. I am former a employee who bought the website at the bankruptcy auction as well as some of the inventory and started a very small company specializing only in airbrush supplies. Please let me know if you wish to know more.

I could see how you might think that but it is a completely different company and owner. You are correct though in that the suppliers would NEVER sell to the previous owner. I do respect your caution and since people are having good experiences with Midwest Airbrush I think you will start to see good reviews posted organically over time.

It's true except that I was only able to buy SOME of the inventory. The auction was actually open to the public and the inventory was broken up into small lots and so most of it was sold to end consumers or just people who resell stuff on amazon or ebay. Most of my inventory was purchased new after the auction.

That's not us, we are in Chicago. That's a T-shirt shop in Rockford IL which is about an hour and a half away.

I understand why you might be skeptical but it is a completely different company. Ken will tell you the same thing. We are actually only a few miles from the Badger factory as well as Paasche's.

One of the problems with working for the owner of Chicago Airbrush is that airbrush was just a small part of a company that sold all kinds of different materials and services that it focused much more on. My company caters only to airbrush artists and custom painters and I think that will be apparent in the customer's experience.

@Sol, your reputation can be gained only from satisfied customers. I'd be really glad if you'll have it, for from all the things happened to people (also members of the forum including myself) it would be not that fast, I'd say. The reason is, there are truly reliable shops with very good service in the US. If you'll be among them in the future - good for you!

A lot of people were ripped off by Chicago Airbrush and it’s left a bad taste in there mouth.
You’ll have to prove yourself worthy of their patronage before they’ll start spreading the word that you offer good service.

I wish you luck.

Thank you Vladimir

Very understandable. I can sympathize because I too was burned very badly by the previous owner. Thank you for letting me reply here and get the story out.
