Hi Rookie76... I moved your question to "Getting real" as that is a better place than the introductions.

Start with the search function here, see what you can see. There is plenty about that. Or you can use google, here is one google pulled up... http://www.airbrushforum.org/threads/realistic-hair-fur-technique-other-than-scratching.18781/

You can go to youtube and put in "Airbrush hair and fur" and you will get these results. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=airbrush hair and fur Here is a good one for you to start.
Hair and fur are really the same sort of thing in airbrush work and created using similar techniques.

I recommend the video tutorial (free on you tube) Airbrush tutor does on some of the faces, he coves hair. I also recommend getting the paid tutorial he does. It is well worth the money.

Can you also give us some idea of what you are going to be painting on? Is is a tee shirt or card or a panel? What sort of paint are you using?

Can I also ask you go to the intro section and say Hi in an intro. Let us know what part of the world you are in, how long have you been airbrushing? what sort of gear you have. :).

Thanks, Mark

Hello again Mark.

Further to my last message, I'm painting on regular drawing paper what you get in an art store. Colours are acrylic.Am out of airbrush colours so will probably be thinning some paint out of a tube. Not much of airbrushing here on the bulgarian Black Sea Coast where I'm currently sailing.
I do have urethene based paints marine paints here onboard the ship.Thinking about trying them after thinning with a generous dose of thinners.

You won't find much joy from paints that aren't airbrush specific. The pigment is too large for the brush and the colours will separate. Also don't use urethane paints without serious protection for you and people around you, nasty stuff, especially when atomized.

Yes, I will do it. At the moment I'm translating the language ... and it's costing me a lot, but for sure, I'll upload my photographs of the hair done.
make sure you post up your painting when done

They're an investment.
techniques you learn on this can be used for fur as well, just shorter strokes :) it also gives a good lesson in layering.

Maybe, I can give realism to my drawings. In March I will do a face-to-face course, with Marissa Osterlee, another great artist.

You can not do the Dru Blair technique on regular paper. You will need synthetic paper or clay- or gesso board.

That's good advise Mark.Thanks.

This is my first attempt for the hair from the Dru Blair's Classroom in a box.
I still need to improve the scratching technique, and lighter in the beginning
but this was my first attempt and certainly not the last one.
this way I learn how to deal with mistakes that I have made now!
especially how to hold the blade and do not put too much pressure on it :)
