Nope but I think it's kind of cool. I think the heads are supposed to be like H+S.
From what I gather most of the airtex (aertex) line are japanese copies of the H+S style stuff
like the beauti 4 or whatever i think is just an infinity
I'd be interested to see some tests with one though. I don't know if I'd hate or love the trigger but the air line in the back thing might be cool!
The air being either always on or always off would bother me though.

Yeah thats all I can find on the internet about it too. I want to know how it feels with the hose on the back and the single action trigger.
So I just ordered one! Lol. I’ll keep you update on how it feels/performs!
Will take 3 weeks to get here though...

Might be cool for people that like how H+S sprays but hate their triggers, as long as you can get over your air always on.
Hose in the back might drive some people nuts. I imagine it would feel awfully tail heavy.
Regardless I think it would be a cool oddball for the collection.

What would make airtex really cool is if they made a model with H+S head but Japanese trigger and a model the other way around

I’m really excited to get it! It might be the greatest ever or it might be excremente so I am curious to find out!

Stick a foot operated airvalve on it.
Or one of those compressors with no cutoff and a foot operated electric switch and pretend it a tattoo gun :)
Or if you're a modeler comfortable with a flex shaft dremel..there ya go

But yeah , It looks like fun. I'd like one just have it sit there and baffle people

Airtex are not copies of anything, but rebranded H&S - remember, Iwata owns H&S. The trigger on the Selfie is designed to work like a Grafo, and several other older German style airbrushes, like Efbe, and Hansa... what I can tell you is that I LOVE my Grafo T1.

So is Iwata making airtex or, owning airtex. How are they claiming japanese made? Or do you just mean not copies as in they are made exactly the same?
Airtex 825 looks like normal japanese.

So the selphy is like a fat grafo? do the grafos do the always on always off air thing.?

you'll eventually figure out Japanese airbrush manufacturing.

There is no always air on, or air off. The first part of the trigger action initiates airflow, the second part initiates paint flow, all in one linear motion, with no need to press down. You move the trigger forward, the paint stops, then the air stops. In the case of the Grafo, the exact point where paint initiation starts is adjustable - I have no idea about the Selphy, but expect the mechanism is the same (as Grafo is owned by H&S, which is owned by Iwata...)

I understand that H+S triggers are like you said, like a spray gun but;
Foxy explained the selphy as the trigger having no control over the air whatsoever, but show an air valve in the tail that you just switch on or off.

But it says you can switch it to work like you said as well.

Without attempting to fully understand the web of business relationships, I figured aitex was japanese made (maybe partly taiwanese) off of the german designs.

I don't think any company makes a complete airbrush, it's all parts made by subcontractors and assembled by whoever wants to put their name on it.
Same way badger does it.
In some cases Assembled then shipped out with whoever wants their name on it.

Which... duh...nevermind, that would just be having the air initiation adjusted to before you even pulled back the trigger any :)

I'm not really sure what that is supposed to show to be honest
Just looks like they put unthinned paint in it and layed it down and blasted the thing wide open then took a pic at an odd angle
Anyway it's cool, I like it...unless it turns out to be garbage
I hope it’s gonna be the best airbrush in the world! That would be nice!!

It’s interesting for sure. I guess the way the air works is an attempt to have a system like a spray gun. It might take some getting used to, but the concept is decent at least.
I get very lost with which company owns which line of brushes. It’s the same here with a few car manufacturers. Loads of different makes are owned by one manufacturer. But you do get the benefit of buying spare parts from the less desirable car brands knowing they will fit the more expensive car.

When I saw this tool appeared at Foxy, I wanted to start the same thread as you've created. But having read the description for this AB, I've become not interested for the reason it features H&S nozzle, which I don't like (only an opinion of mine).

Though, I wonder what you will say, especially after you've sold your Infinities;)

It reminded me of one vintage AB I have in the collection:
