Which Badger

Got in on Badgers Birthday deal and now have to decide which brush to get. I have the Krome now. Any recommendations from Badger users? Strongly leaning towards the Sotar. Will be used mainly for illustration. Thanks in advance.

Forget the sotar and go for the extreme patriot, reviews seem to be very good on that, and I believe it is their newest and best model:)

The Sotar is really about the same brush you have now, with a smaller color cup. There are a few dimensional differences, with the Sotar having a shorter front end vs the Krome, but the parts that make it do what it does are all the same. The head base is brazed to the brush body on the Krome but it is the same one as used on the Sotar, as is the nozzle, hold down ring, and regulator. The Xtreme Patriot is different, and may offer you more variety in the experience of use over the Sotar.

I have infinity cr plus, very impressed with it. But I also jumped on this deal, it's always good to have 2nd good ab for this price. Right now I am unsure should I go with sotar 20 20 or with patriot xtreme? Both seem great, althoug using this chart http://old.usaairbrushsupply.com/docs/BadgerAirbrushAppChart.pdf seems that xtreme is better for miniature painting which I use ab for.
So I should probably go for xtreme? Only negative point might be no needle protection, but I am very careful with it, so I should probably be fine.

I use the Patriot 105 and Sotar. Have not found any reason (other than vanity) to get any others. The 105 is a great overall brush and the Sotar for fine detail. I'm just finishing up the 1:350 refit Enterprise. Every drop of paint and clear were sprayed with those two brushes. Any who have built this model know what amount of paint work can go into it. Some of the iridescent colors and detail on the lower hull shown. So, which Badger? How about "yes".

Xtreme is a 105 with high trigger and open tip no crown cap option which can suck if you knock it over. mine nose dived when I had it sitting on a holder out of the way good test for sharpenair but 90 degree needles are hard to fix ;) the high trigger is nice to have for a bit more ease of pulling just a touch

You don't need to produce a masterpiece, just a photo of your new toy and your thoughts on it, how it feels in your hand and maybe how it compares to what you have now:)
Here is the new brush. All I've done with it so far is just some lines and such as I'm not getting a lot of painting time due to work being so busy. Love the feel of it and it's smoothness. It's probably gonna make the Krome become the second brush. Didn't realise how much easier it would be to clean with the larger nozzle. IMG_20180302_181652533-2099x1181.jpg

I have the extreme. I dont use it as much as my other badgers because of the unprotected needle, but when i have used it. It performed flawlessly.
