Rust in bottom of cup

Hello
I noticed after about a week of use there looked to be a rust colour in the bottom of my hp-c plus cup.
I stopped and cleaned today and it looks like my brush is getting rust in the bottom of the cup and it’s creeping up inside the cup. It’s only discoloured at the moment.
Just asking if this is normal, I don’t leave it wet and use Iwata cleaning solution plus tap water to wash it through. I make sure it’s dry after every use so just asking if this is normal or something I may be doing wrong?
I have bought some distilled water as I do live in a hard water area, my wife has an RO unit as she has a marine fish tank so could I use ro water instead of distilled?

The brush is made out of brass, and then plated, so... "rust" is a not an issue. You may be seeing some of the original brass color starting to show through the plating in the cup, and this is kind of normal.

Cheers Dave
I work with machines and know rust isn’t good so kind of got a bit of a panic on.
My tap water is really hard so was a bit worried it was that and maybe I was leaving it wet.
Good to know though thanks so panic over

What are you using to clean your gun with? Ammonia eats the chrome. I've even had the Medea Airbrush Cleaner remove some of the chrome in my one cup.

I am in the process of getting the stuff together to make Freds home made cleaner so shouldn’t be using it that much longer.
What do you use now Andre if you don’t mind me asking?

I mainly use E'tac so its just water for that. For Schmincke and Illustration colours I use diluted alcohol.

Ok thanks
I’ve been trying to find rubbing alcohol on the shelf in the UK but can’t seem to find it so will have to buy online.
Also amonia free window cleaner i’m unsure of what brand to buy

You guys have Windolene don't you?

Yeah I did see windowlene but was unsure of all the other ingredients.
I do need to do some reading on whats good and whats not.
100% acetone I can get as I have a wife lol
Then the glycerine i will buy online as a few chemists I checked in my area don’t stock it although they did do one in their baking aisle but I wasn’t sure if it was the same stuff.

glyserine in the baby isle that they use with a peace of cotton to clean the milk buildup from the baby's mouth, brother I think glyserine is glyserine, but only use a few drops not more...

Ok i’ll grab some at the weekend.
I did ask the chemist if it was all the same and they didn’t know.
You’d think selling the stuff they do they would have a clue

Well I went to inquire about the same at our local pharmacy, and the pharmacist said, lady I'm a pharmacist not an alchemist!! Okay so he obviously don't know anything about art or airbrushing either I suppose lol

Jimmy, just order either some isopropyl alcohol off eBay or go get some screen wash from the local supermarket or even Poundland. Mix 50/50 with water. Should do the trick. If stubborn use neat and wash out with water afterwards. Not had any issues with mine ever.

Ok Lee thanks.
I’ve got 5 litres of distilled water coming and bought some windowlene, glycerine so only need to get isopropyl alcohol now so i’ll grab some off ebay.
