Nozzle size

Sometimes the manufacturers give a suggested nozzle size to use their product. If you know what primers, base and clear you’ll be using then the website for the paint manufacturer might help?
Just an idea as I don’t know the answer to your question :)

Any brainstorming is welcomed :) Don't know about which primers, base and clears I would use, I didn't decided yet. Was planing to spray aluminium.

My noobish plan was like this: Primer for aluminium, base coat, wicked on top, maybe glow in the dark on top of wicked(not 100% sure about glow in the dark) and then clear coat. -.- Would that work? lol It would be for out door use, rain, winter, sun etc.

But I would be more than happy if guns would be usable for different stuff as well. :)

For Primer: 1,6mm not less! Clear: 1,3 to 1,5! Basecoat: 1,3:) That is how I do it and it works. There is a guy from Australia called "The Gunman" on youtube. He is an expert on sprayguns. He has excellent videos there!

Thanks Darijan. I would like to buy this gun cause of Gunmans review. But I hoped I could use it for everything if I buy good nozzle size. But the biggest nozzle size on this gun is 1.2 :(

Would it not be more economical or possible to buy one gun with all the head sizes, I'm guessing you would have a use for them all, it might work out cheaper to get a higher end gun with interchangeable heads, I doubt you would use several guns all at once.

I was reading somewhere that it is not recommended to have the same gun for different stuff, cause you can get something from other stuff in to paint or clear coat. But to be honest I did't hold spray gun never in my life, so this will be new journey for me. Trying to set cost low and get good guns for the money, until I need to buy better. I will gladly take any advise from you guys of course.

That's understandable but I think that advice takes into account that some folks might not be too thorough with cleaning, I used to spray in a small boat yard where I worked years ago, we had only three guns with several heads, never really had any problems with contamination, but I'm sure in the wrong hands that can probably does happen.

I'm just throwing ideas out there really but if you've never used a gun before your approach is acceptible although I woukd suggest one gun to start with and get more when you think you have the hang of it, if you find it more difficult than you thought, at least you won't have wasted to much money on the nest of guns.

I was thinking 3 good cheap guns or one better and higher priced one if this is not an issue. If there would not be an issue to do it all with one gun, than maybe it would be better option one gun with few different setups. I was reading now about this gun, looks like it's quite good one. But it costs like 3x anni small ones:

That is a decent gun but I don't know if it it's worth forking out for for yet, when you say three guns, are you talking about a set or three separate guns?, I would recommend one cheaper gun to learn with and then go higher cost when you're confident in their use, you don't want to be left holding a load of expensive equipment if you decide you can't be bothered with the hassle of spraying and cleaning it all, I mostly had to do a lot small projects that took far less time to do than it did to clean the equipment afterwards and always found that soul destroying so I avoided spraying as much as I could, I had no choice because it was my job, given the choice I wouldn't have done it at all:)

I don't mind cleaning. I am sure I would love to do this. If cleaning is a pain, what the hell I will clean. There is no other option. I will be the cutest cleaning man ever :D

yes, I was thinking about buying 3 different guns each for it's own use.

If you’re planning on using Wicked. You could go for Autobourne Sealers for Primer. I’m pretty sure they go through a 1.2, but I’m not certain. Plus you have the advantage of colour coding with the base coat so saving some paint there. They seem to get great reviews from everywhere and are claimed to stick like poop to a blanket.

Need to think about this one a lot. I wonted to buy new compressor but as soon there is a bigger nozzle needs more cfm. And the next compressor which I like is 300 Euros more which has enough cfm output for bigger nozzles. The cheaper one is 450 euros, but it would be very thight with those bigger nozzles and cfm...
