Getting frustrated....questions

@SiRoxx. Brought it up that detail likes to settle out and leave sediment at the bottom when reduced. I would try flushing it out and then adding a strained mix. Otherwise to me it seems like crud in the nozzle.
Especially if it does it at a range of pressure.
Detail at 1:3 through a .35 should be more than thin enough.
Have you ever had to clean the nozzle in the way i had suggested?
if not youll probably be surprised how much gunk worms its way out the front of the nozzle.

I think I found the problem, I wish I could remember the psi I used the other night but tried again tonight at 25 psi and 1-3 paint/ reducer..got the most wonderful tiny lines. I think the other night I had the pressure too low and it was like falling out of the brush. Lol. I then over reduced and tried lower psi. It worked but not as well as higher psi. Heck, I think I’m learning something here

Oh yea, that was with the eclipse too. Not sure why I’m so scared to use the damn B +

i think we get too hung up on 'if i do detail i have to have the psi as low as possible' and as you've found out, its not always the case.

There is only so far you can reduce paint before it becomes an issue with pigment being compromised.

All the recommendations you see floating around the forum are just starting points, your geographical locataion will also play a part. (cold/hot/wet/dry)

different brushes change things up too. i can spray Createx illustration straight from the bottle in my .18 CM-sb, but have issues and have to reduce in my HP-B+...... not at all logical but its the way it is >>

give it a really good clean, soak the nozzle in restorer overnight, get an interdental brush, dip that in restorer and scrub the threads on the brush before putting the nozzle back on.

do not use exessive force when doing up the nozzle, you'll likely cause problems to the threads.

Are you running a tankless compressor?
I ask bc thats the only way i can get skipping from too low of pressure.
Nope, 100 gallon and it was empty when I went out tonight...hmmmmm I bet I was running in what was left inside the lines

Great advice sunshine. Thanks a million

I just have a feeling its not just too low of pressure......
Usually too low just makes you have to pull way back to get any paint but the line is still solid.
Well...as long as its working

I’m going to start to write what I do down so I have a record. At ththe higher pressure it was a dream

i strongly suspect its a clog issue, but if the paint is seperating/ settling in the cup, then you'd get stuttering like that if the PSI isnt high enough to push through the clog
a tankless compressor/ faulty compressor could also show the same symptoms
as could nozzle blocked/cracked/mishapen/not tight enough......

it could be a multitude of reasons.

clogged / loose nozzle tankless compressors are the usual culprits though

I totally agree. its usually how i know its time to do a good nozzle scraping.
Well if after some more use @Joe T keeps having to use higher pressures then youll know its exactly that.

I hadnt thought about the seperating/low pressure combo though. Great point

I have had the same problems after painting for awhile with the same paint in the brush, so I point the brush to the side (away from the work...lol) and give it a good blast. It helps to push the crud building up, out. I find this happens when working on something and doing a lot of erasing and such. I put in an extra drop of reducer to loosen up the paint a little and also try and remix new paint before it gets too low.
Sometimes things just get crazy...Gotta love it...

Wicked detail 1 drop paint 3 drops 4012. 25 psi. Also tried same mixture at 10 psi. I’ll try again tonight after giving it a good cleaning.
@Robbyrockett2

It does look to me like paint in the nozzle so i would give it a careful clean but i would also make sure that the threads of the air cap is sealed and also that the needle isnt too loose when going through the needle bearing. If it is it may need turning a fraction.

I did give it a pretty good cleaning before I tried again and some crud came out. I had let it soak in the restorer for a few hours so that may have helped

Gave it a good cleaning and had at it again...great lines then......crap..then, I cleaned off the tip dry with a wet qtip and great again. I’m starting to think it’s the tip dry that’s giving me fits, as soon as I clean it off it sprays great again. I think I now understand why everyone hates tip dry lol

And finding different paints and colors have a happy place with psi
