Eclipse Vs. Peak C-3

Air-Valve Autobot!
Ok to be perfectly honest I probably wont be buying either one of these but I'm curious if anyone has any experience with these. Is peak quality up to par with iwata and how close is the C-3 to an eclipse?
Curiosity sake here so conjecture is welcome but any experience with peak and especially a C-3 would be cool to hear about.

No experience with the C-3, so I’m just here to observe the discussion. I think a good part of the reputation of the Eclipse is how well hey handle the unintended abuse from a beginner like me. My eclipse just seems to shake off actions that would ruin many AB’s, so I think that element should be taken into account as well as performance and price etc. Looking forward to seeing others thoughts.

Well , here's what I see in the pics.

The c-3 has the guide screw behind the air valve like the old eclipse (possibly implying the chuck guide and aux lever are separate) .

It has the knurls and rings where the body and handle meet.....Some eclipses seem to have knurled handle, some have rings, not sure what the difference is there????

The c-3 has a longer area in front of the color cup but cup to trigger distance seems the same.

The needle chuck is shifted forward in the cutout

Those last two could mean that the whole working assembly sits a bit forward, I have seen mentions of the peak handle being heavier, maybe on purpose to offset that and balance it???

Maybe all of this is common to the old eclipse?????

Weeell with the lack of info i might just have to buy one so i can tear it apart and give some detailed shots for everyone to dissect.
If it's basically a brand new old eclipse for $69 thats pretty serious value. Maybe something that should be on the list of top budget brushes?

Ultimately that will give you your answer and it would be a bargain if you end up being right.

I wondered about Peak brushes also. They look very similar, besides the elongated area by the nozzle on the peak. The only difference I’ve noticed on the old Eclipse is the guide screw and the unattached lever. So the Peak is not like old Eclipse.

So that longer area may be the only difference, Seeing where the chuck sits in the cutout the internals could all be the same..... or extremaly similar....guess I won't know til i tear one apart and compare.
Thanks for the old eclipse shots, those were hard to find.
Do you know what the deal is with the eclipses with the knurled area is?
Like the one in the pic with the white backdrop you posted.

Are you referring to Bearair/Airbrush.com pricing? They have the Peak listed as out of stock, and I suspect they may have been for quite some time... I will have to revisit and see if that ever changes.

The pic of the two eclipses is old on top, new on bottom for comparison.

I’m not familiar with the different Eclipse handles. Here’s a pic showing that only my newest Eclipse says Anest Iwata on the reverse side.

Nice catch.
I looked at the x-3 out of curiosity and it has the same centering tip as an eclipse. Was the C-3 the same way or a screw in nozzle? I can't find a diagram for that brush.
Maybe Iwata licensed the design idea from Peak since it is the first time they used a self centering nozzle.

BearAir sells Richpen airbrushes and has Peak brushes made for them? Sounds Fuso Seiki to me. Different. But same same.

A very interesting conversation just took place on my FB page, and we may need to start looking at "Kitakatsu Seiki" instead of Fuso Seiki...

Yes, that is a very interesting conversation.

Makes me think of something Olympos said on Facebook about Rich airbrush.

So Beijing Seiki owns Rich/ Richpen, and Kitakatsu Seiki makes the rest?

Rich/Richpen is owned by Fuso Seiki and someone else actually produces the brushes. There is some confusion in the translation, but I am gathering it is actually Kitakatsu Seiki that does the majority of the part making. Sounds to me like there is perhaps a family, or some sort of close relationship with Fuso Seiki...

Yeah, but the way I read it , its the 5 piece special $50 each they have listed as out of stock, you can still add a single one to the cart...

dunno - I thought about ordering one, but $22 bucks shipping for a few States travel seems excessive. Gonna pass on that one for the moment.

Ok thats it, I've had enough of this crap! I'm defecting to Japan and getting a job in an airbrush factory. All these questions will be answered once and for all! :p

(ok I'm just kidding but really it would be cool to see it first hand)
