Multi-layered stenciling?

I have never worked with stencils, but was pretty curious after seeing some peoples work online, about the process behind it. Some of these pieces were like 15 stencils. How do they did this, anyone have any experience? Or tutorials on this process, i don't understand, where to cut and what to cut, on that many.

Uli Bast for sure... I was about to mention him too.
Guy is a God of stencils o_O

He does actually have a video how he creates a stencil on his computer, before cutting it out.
He started off by cutting out by hand but later on he switched to plotter cutter for more detail (and no doubt, to make it faster/easier for himelf)

Thanks! :)...where do you even find the plastic stuff that uli uses? I can't find it, i have seen it a long time ago, none of the stores here at it!

I can usually find blank stencils at most of the craft stores around my town. I've also used transparent sheets from office supply stores, and in a pinch, I've covered printed pictures with clear packing tape before I cut them out and that helps it last a while.

I found that a cheap way is to go to Office Depot like store (any stationery store) and buy yourself plastic document separators or laminate sheets. You have a choice of thickness with these and they're great for stencils.

Ive spoken with Ulli about his stencils, and he now uses a laser cutter to cut his stencils, but you're right, he is great at the multi layer stencilling!!

Oh my...a laser cutter o_O
That must have been on the expensive side.
I'm slowly scraping some cash for Sillhouette Cameo
