IWATA HP-CS 0,3 or 0,35 ?

Hi all,

I am a bit confused regarding the HP-CS. I bought mine from a serious vendor in Japan. On the box it states clearly 0.3 mm. But I got an impression that the HP-CS is only made with a 0.35 or 0.50 set up . I see on various webstores that they state in the data 0.3 mm and when they write about it they use 0.35 mm. Autorized dealers in Germany and the UK are examples. I am just a bit confused. I ordered a 0.3 needle from oen of those and what did arrive was a 0.35 needle

I have seen this question on some scale forums, but noone has been able to clear it out. Is the HP-CS made witha a 0.3 and a 0.35 set up or are all 0.35? A google search after both shows most Asia and Europe stores label it as 0.3 and in the US it is mostly labeled 0.35.

Thank you for helping out :)

Kind regards
Øyvind

Iwata website US states .35

I can't see any option for .5 for the HP-CS

A quick check of available GENUINE spares for it only list the . 35 as an option in Australia and US.
You're right, UK states .30 set up..
That's very strange, it's not like one's metric and the other is imperial

I'd buy spares from the same place you purchased to be on the safe side

Thank you for your answer JackEb!
But this box is in sale here in Norway, and I got mine from an Authorized Iwata vendor in japan...Here it is sold and advertised as a 0.3. Iwata dealers in Germany sell sparepart needle as 0.3 with 0.3 on the packing to HP-CS. Still some confused :confused:HPCS.jpg

Realistically the only way to get an answer is to contact Iwata. Everything else is assumption.
It does seem silly to make two different needles for different locales around the globe. It could get awkward if you travel and need spares !

the hp c+ has the 0.3 nozzle needle set up , the eclipse CS and the kustom eclipse cs both have the 0.35 nozzle needle set up

If you read US sources you seems to have right. If you read on the actual cardbox from Iwata sold in Norway or Japan, or at their UK, German or Japanese site they clearly write 0.30 about the Eclipse HP-CS. Thats the confusing part.

I had a quick look on a dutch site to see if I could find the difference and found the 3 Iwata's that look the same but only the C+ has the 0.3. the HP CS how ever has a 0.35 setup

Could be a rounding issue. 0.35 is the actual for the CS, could easily be quoted as 0.3. To be perfectly honest there shouldn't be much difference in the performance between 0.3 and 0.35, some very experienced artists may notice it. The HP-CS also has a 0.5mm nozzle set up - I brought that as a second set. Huge difference between the two.

That is what the norm is, but if you look at the box that Viking has posted, it states 'HP-CS' in the top right corner, but the airbrush picture shows .3mm tip. Hence the confusion and now I'm awake, I've found there is indeed an option to purchase the .5m setup for it.

Although your right @markjthomson, most wouldn't notice much difference, I'd be more concerned that there is actually a physical difference, and if you needed spares, you could wind up mismatched.

Both of my Japanese Eclipses say the same thing, though they are probably .35. Maybe the Japanese are lazy and prefer not to put the 5 on there...

On my CM-CP and CM-B the are very accurate though, and state 0.23 and 0.18 on the box. Could the cause be a typo that have even confused their own organization as the UK division among others?

They are all .35 while boxing my vary from country to country it is a .35 nozzle in it . The only way you get a .5 CS is by buying the nozzle and needle for the BCS which comes standard with a .50 set up.
But any time I have to replace a needle I replace the nozzle too , There has to be a reason I am replacing the needle so it only stands to reason something has to be wrong with the nozzle.

out of curiosity I went and checked my eclipse series boxes and they list the correct ".35" on the CS/BS/SBS and .50 on the BCS.
