Delay of paint spray

I personally think that all the paint you have listed there is better shot through a full sized gun, or at least a .5mm nozzle (with good reduction, you may get away with a .3mm) These paints are not ideal for shooting through a small detail brush, and just starting out, I think you are asking for troubles trying to figure out the right reduction on them - Just trying to save you from the frustration we have all already gone through, trying to do the same thing .

Just an update on this thread. Come to find out that the one I am having troubles with, the nozzle O-ring pretty much crap now. Can I buy those separately or do I have to buy the whole tip set? Also, the other one sprays fine, except that it does spray a perfect circle. The closer to the paper, I see that it sprays in a slight oblong shape, in a horizontal direction.

Welcome to the world of inexpensive Chinese airbrushes . The oblong shape of the spray pattern is due to the nozzle not being centered in the air cap opening. If you have a magnifying glass to check, you may be able to get it more centered by loosening the nozzle, and re-tightening while gently pushing in the direction you want it to go. Hit or miss, but I have been able to improve them by doing this... may take several attempts.

As far as replacing the tip on the the other one - I have seen generic ones available with needles - on Ebay, but have no experience with them. TCP only sells replacement parts as part of a "kit" and you wind up buying lots of pieces you don't need.

It is at this time you will need to think about whether you want to continue to put money into these brushes, or perhaps try a different one. I have found some inexpensive brushes ($21 - $30) from a different Chinese maker than the G22 and G222 that have been working really quite well for me. I put some of the info in the "Airbrush" section of this forum. I find the general build quality to be better than the G22, and consistency brush to brush seems to be fairly good, in comparison. Some of the tip centering issues are the same, but these brushes will accept parts from Iwata airbrushes (complete Micron head assembly, and/or needle(s) from Micron, or HP-A or B), and with just the substitution of the needle with an Iwata needle, I have several of them working as well as brushes that cost MUCH, much more...

This is why the cheap brushes end up being a false economy, parts don't tend to last, and you can end up buying bits you don't need, to get the part you want. I once found it cheaper just to replace the whole brush with another one - which then didn't last either . And all the time I didn't know if it was my lack of skill or the brush that was the issue, and I spent so much time getting it to work I didn't learn.

When I worked out what I had spent on the two brushes Tha didn't work, I felt the money was wasted, and wished I'd bought better to start. Rather than possibly wasting more money I decided to get some cash together and by a decent brush - and never looked back. That brush is still going strong 4 years later.

As you have one working brush, I would be tempted to do as Dave suggested and adjust the nozzle, and get that one working well, then consider upgrading the other. This is only based on my experiences but I found it much easier to learn when I could concentrate on technique knowing my brush was good. If you can get your working brush dialled in though, you may be just fine with it for a while.

Yer you can buy orings separately but can be hard to track down the exact size through a hardware, you may have to look more in the engineering supply world or buy a full kit just for the size you need or buy the spares from ebay or your original supplier or those supplying the same gun..I'm with Squish though, always handy knowing what to blame LOL...In more experienced hands it doesn't really matter what gun it is as those with experience can generally get em sorted to the point of spraying OK, but they can be a pain for beginners and investing a little more at the start can save a lot of pain in the future..Mines been going for about 15 odd years now and has cost me bugger all in spares except the odd needle and nozzle changeout after introducing it to concrete

Just doing the best I can with what I have. My wife bought it all for me for my birthday last year and will only one income right now, I am just looking to keep them going by any means other than buying a whole lot of stuff for them or new ones. Thanks to all for you help.

Keep us posted how you are making out - in the end, I would like to see you being able to do what you want to do . As you know, I have several brushes that are along the lines of what you have, and if I can help out, I certainly will!
