I am primarily a woodturner, at least in terms of using this forum. In my "day job", I am a manager for a contracting company place into a government agency. I am also a photographer, where high school seniors and family images are my main focus. I love shooting a wedding, but mostly as a "second shooter"... less pressure and a bit more artistic freedom!

I want to use the airbrush to apply stains to wood. Most of the time I will be "fading" one color into the next.

I know NOTHING about airbrushing, and was happy to find this forum to be able to ask questions and get guidance.

It is entirely possible that I might expand my airbrushing to art, but that is yet to be determined.

Looking forward to learning about airbrushing and all aspects of a properly applied art.

See you 'round!

Michael

Hey there welcome from New Zealand. Do you have an idea of budget? As a general comment we tell people to avoid cheap starter packs. If you don't have a compressor allow about 1/3 of your budget for that, 1/2 your budget on the brush the remainder on ancillary useful bits. The Iwata eclipse is a good all round starter/use forever brush. Cheers Mark

Welcome from Australia.
Many of us start airbrushing for reasons not art related but wind up dabbling in art as a learning experience.

Thanks everyone.
I've poked around the forum a bit more looking for compressor recommendations, and think I am on to one that is versatile.
I am also happy to see airbrush recommendations, and I think I'm headed into the siphon type, so I can change colors quickly and store the colors I've used... not sure on that one yet.

I have discovered one thing, I am more than likely to head into other kinds of art. My "art midi-chlorians" are pushing me and filling my head with visions. I really need another endeavor to spend time on, kinda like a hole in the head... but when the force compels you...
