Brand new Badger 105 will not spray water

if
I'm not familiar with these brushes, but I remember reading somewhere that to get vacuum, the end of the nozzle has to protrude slightly. Not sure if this applies to this particular brush??? Thought I'd mention it though.

The only other possibility I can think of is a badly blocked nozzle. I know its new, but they sometimes get tested in the factory. Was there a piece of paper with a test spray in the packaging? Even though the needle is passing through I can still be blocked. Does it feel spongy or sticky if you gently move the needle in and out by hand with the chuck undone? That's one sign of a blockage.

Are there bubbles in the cup when you try and spray?
He said no bubbles unless he blocks the tip and back flush's it? I agree with you squishy blocked nozzle or bad nozzle

But even with a blocked nozzle when he pulled out the needle he should have gotten some water out the nozzle as it would have been open from the needle being pulled out?

No paint has gone through it, just water (figured that if the latter didn't work, the former wouldn't).

Maybe that is the issue then? The nozzel sits level with the head, but there is a small gap around it. I cannot tighten the head further to let it protrude.

There was no test spray paper included. Just a box, the airbrush, a spare nozzle which is too big for the head and some basic instructions.

The needle doesn't feel spongy, i would describe it as just sliding into place and then feeling tight on the nozzle.

Ok, he told me, to tell you to call Badger on Monday. Ask for the repairs dept. Unless @KenBadger sees this over the weekend. Something has happend to that airbrush since it left the factory.

No worries, will do. I'll have to make an international call though, as I'm located in Australia. Might be less expensive if there's a support email or something?

Thank you again everyone for taking time out of your days to offer your help. I appreciate it.

Assuming you have the screw in nozzle not the drop in type, this is the best pic I can find. Zooming in it looks like the nozzle is sticking out slightly. Not sure if its possible, but if the nozzle has been over tightened could the thread be damaged so that it is screwed in too far?

This is all guess work as I am more used to drop in nozzles and have never used this brush.

That's a great reference photo. Every thing should look like that. I hope you get this fixed bud. Nothing more frustrating than stuff not working proper. Badger should take care of you.

So, my nozzle is of the drop in variety. The hole in the head base is too thin to allow for the nozzle to protrude slightly out of the head cap unfortunately. Hopefully this is the issue and Badger can point me in the direction of the correct nozzle.

Just curious why you bought a brush from Amozon when you're in Australia. As far as I'm aware Amazon don't trade product as yet here ?
Where in Aus are you? We may have someone nearby who might be able to look at it for you.

I bought it off Amazon, because all up it cost me a bit over $110 versus the $150ish+ I would have paid domestically.

Melbourne, although I reckon I'll just try to square it away with Badger first.

$109- Nsw, freight inc.

If you're struggling to find good prices in future then make sure you post up here and ask. Oz is admitted a hard place to source equipment but your not the first to hunt, we have a few here that have done the hard work. Yes there are times it pays off from overseas but if there is a problem then freighting it back for repair can be a deal breaker. For the record I've bought overseas before when necessary.

Absolutely give Badger the chance to fix the issue. By all accounts their service is tops.

Hmm, if its the drop in type maybe its different.

Badger will help you, they have great service.

I just looked at my patriot and my tip sticks out past the head (Cap). Just a little farther than the one in Squishy's post. I have a drop in type tip. Also have fine set up
If yours isn't, than you would just get air going over the end of the tip, instead of following the outside of the tip. This action is what draws the paint out of the gap (space between needle and inside of the tip). along the needle to spray....
I hope I explained this good enough...lol

Hello everyone,

Here's the moment where I put on the dunce cap and sit in the corner while everyone laughs haha.

It was bothering me that my airbrush wasn't working this morning, so I decided to run through all the troubleshooting suggestions posted here. I managed to get the tip protruding a little, but still no cigar.

Just as I was about to give up, I thought to myself, it's almost like not enough airflow is getting through somewhere else. So I loosened the connection between my airbrush and hose...

...and it sprays water and paint now.

I'm an idiot (with a working airbrush though).

Seriously, thank you all!

Finn.

Dont feel bad, We've all done similar....... chair on air hose, forgetting to connect airhose...... forgetting to turn compressor on...... forgetting to tighten needle chuck.... forgetting to put paint in with the reducer in the cup......
the list goes on......
this wont be your last issue, but I bet in future you don't overtighten things :) (you squashed the o-ring when you over tightened and it impeded the air flow)

Sometimes it really is that easy to fix!! Congrats on getting it working.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

At least you didn't stare at the end of your airbrush, wondering why it wasn't working too well.....and spray yourself in the face. We've all done something stupid. Some of us are just more gifted than others. I spent an hour ranting, and cleaning my brush before the penny dropped and I realised my tank was running out but hadn't refilled cos I hadn't turned on the compressor.

You are not alone. Welcome to the club lol.

Glad you got it sorted.
