Hey,

Just wanted to say hi.

I am new to the forum and new to airbrushing.

I had decided to buy an hs evolution silverline 2 in 1 until I went to a friends house earlier.

He pulls out a brand new hs infinity crplus 2 in 1. Never used.
Casually he says make me an offer.

To cut a long story short I made a silly low offer and he accepted.

I am very happy.
I have read many reviews on this forum which have led me to this.

My aim is to paint rc car shells. I used to spray real cars but never with an airbrush. Only ever a hvlp spray gun.

Anyway really happy to be here and just wanted to say great forum.

Ps it appears that the .4mm needle and nozzle has in fact come with the incorrect nozzle and air cap.

I will happily rectify this with the money I have saved.

Many thabks

Jon

Welcome from Australia Jon.
If you have history with spray guns then at least you have knowledge of reductions and pressure and the like, so you're not coming in totally clueless.
What paint have you chosen and where on the planet do you call home ?

Hey,
Thanks. I live in the uk.

I haven't yet decided on a brand but I will need to use something suitable for spraying onto lexan. Something flexible and hard wearing that won't be effected by nitro fuel.

Do you have any suggestions/ advice?

After leaving the army 15 years ago I worked as a tattoo artist so can certainly draw, I imagine that will help some but as with many things principle can be different to practice.

I was also going to post asking some advice so I may as well ask here.

Many people advised me on the evolution silverline and not to go for anything more or in fact less.
Less in that I would loose the paint flow restriction setting (quick fix) and more I think because someone told me that the infinity is harder to handle?

I don't know how true that is.

I visited many forums and this seemed by far the best. I read many posts/experiences.

I was recently diagnosed with a heart condition that was caused by me contracting mrsa while in hospital. I ended up spending 8 weeks in intensive care. This has left me with time on my hands and needing to find a hobby and being that I missed art, it seemed a natural progression.

Australia is lovely. I have only ever been to Sydney but my 7x great grandfather was captain cook so there is a link there lol.

How is the weather down under?

Hey there, welcome from New Zealand. There are a few here who spray those things... :)

Welcome from another Brit :) Everyone has their fave brushes and brands. Harder to handle can be kind of subjective. On one hand you're learning so you will be learning your brush as you go along, on the other hand some brushes are a little more forgiving regarding paint flow, and how triggers behave etc. With finer nozzles you are going to have to reduce quite a lot, and it can be tricky to get the balance right, and not get blockages all the time. If you have some gun experience you should be able to figure it out just fine. If you have the .4 nozzle I would maybe start out with that, get to know its capabilities (it will be a bit more of an all round nozzle for covering slightly larger areas, as well as some fine work), then when you've got to grips with it, size down to the smaller nozzle with more reduction and lower psi and you should be able to dial in your fine detail no worries.

Welcome to the forum! There are many Lexan compatible paints on the market, one of them being Faskolor by Parma I think. I've heard that this is rebranded Createx paint. As I just acquired a starter set of Wicked Colors, I hope to start experimenting on some shells I have laying around soon. I recently got an Infinity myself, and so far its been an excellent gun, I love it!
