So I've been used to using HOK for all my airbrush needs but wanted to try out the Createx for safety and the wide range of off the shelf colors. I was running a test piece last night and had some issues. No doubt i jacked something up I just don't know what as I haven't had the issue with my solvent based paints before.
Here are the specs

Odd shaped piece with hard edges multiple facets.
Shop temp 80-90 Humidity 60-70

Substrate
KD3000 Epoxy primer cured 48 hours and dry sanded smooth with 400grit

After sanding I blew off the piece with compressed air and then ran a tack rag over it(might be problem 1)

Applied two coats of autobourne white sealer waiting for the the coat to flash dull between coats

30 minutes after last seal coat I laid two stripes of masking tape on the surface after first de tacking them on my shirt.

Sprayed some woodgrain artwork and then removed the tape slowly and back upon itself and on edges and rounded corners I got varying degrees of paint pulling all the way back to the seal coat. So lost adhesion between seal coat and primed base.

Did i not wait long enough?
Should I have ran a rag over the surface with wax and grease remover?
Did i not sand enough?

It was my first pass at createx and liked it but understand I screwed something up

Which Createx did you use? The standard one is a textile paint and turns into a tough film once cured.

this was all wicked colors with a couple drops of 4030 mixed in
used 4012 reducer

Mainly your sealer was not fully dried. Just being dull means the surface is dry but does not mean you sealer is cured 100% . If I am using a sealer I use a heat gun between coats then let it set for 24 hours.
It is a different animal then HOK so extra time is needed

Thanks Micron. I had watched a bunch of vids before jumping into createx and thought it was gunna be a quicker system. Seems that although the standard color pallet is great there is for sure some drying standards that have to be adhered to.

Most of that is due to the humidity being so high in your area. where chemical can still dry and cure at higher humidity water takes a bit longer.

Thanks again Micron. I've seen some talk about it being a must to wipe down the substrate with w&G remover primer to autobourne sealer. Ya'll find this to be the case?

Most time I just wipe it with a clean tack rag, But I do sometimes use a mild W&G depending on the item .

Even blow dryers would help with the cure time. I have only used the sealer on top of bulldog adhesion promoter so I couldn't say about the primer. Water based paints on automotive were alway a nightmare for me especially when shops cleared them for me. That's the biggest reason I stopped doing automotive. That plus cheap customers.

Ya i even had thrown some mask film straight over the sealer and upon repositioning it it pulled the sealer
