Needle Packing O-Ring - What Indicators for Replacement?

What indicators point to needing a new needle packing O-ring? My two Iwatas have been sitting for over 20 years, and I've only tried out the HP-C recently. Seems to work okay, (testing with Rotring inks) but I wanted to test it out more thoroughly this weekend.

The air valve assembly was a bit sticky, so I disassembled it for a brief cleaning, and now pressing the trigger downward yields a much smoother movement.

Curious to know what to look for as a sign that the fluid needle O-ring needs replacement.

Needle packing part # is I-150-2 . But it's rubber. Old High Performance has rubber needle packing.

If you want to change it for the teflon packing and use it with solvent based paints the part # is I-725-1

BTW, this brush is great tool!
Thanks, Vladimir. I appreciate the input for part numbers; that is very useful. What symptoms will the brush give, to indicate it needs a new O-ring?

Bubbling into the color cup is a sign. If air finds an easier way out than through the front, it'll take it.

a quick question on this subject. I have all sizes of rubber O rings at work. Is it really a specialty O ring or could I use one that comes in the ) ring kit at work?

I think stiff trigger action or paint leakage inside the body.
I found that rubber O-ring are much smoother than teflon. But I've never used rubber and replaced them all for teflon as urethanes are in my use.

I'd say if you use waterbased any would do. At least you can try yourself for free:)
But as Squishy said, there are some good properties teflon has and it's more versatile for the media used in the AB.
