Clear coat and wax

Double Actioner
Hey guys, it's been a while since we I've been able to get on here. But recently I picked up some wax for my Xbox controllers to maybe add some extra protection to the paint job. It seems like it's actually making the paint job high maintenance. I keep getting these flattened marks from it sitting on a flat surface.

Does anyone happen to know if that's just something g wax does? Is it really that soft?

So what paint did you do the controllers in and did you put a clear over it? If so what clear? It is possible the paint isn't intended to be waxed.

Sometime if you use a rattle can clear there is no hardener or very little in it cause the clear to set yet not be hard. Waxing it just makes it show up faster .

Well before I would just wetsand and rub it down with that compound. Which gives it a nice gloss. I never noticed that happening before. This time I figured I would actually use polish and wax.

It happened with two controllers. Different paint on each. Wicked colors on one and Tamiya on the other. Then I used Rust-Oleum acrylic enamel, on both. Then all the finishing products were meguires

Might be the wax has a softener in it thats reacting with the paint?
Im not sure. I know I won't be using it anymore. I just wanted to see what everyone thought it may have been. Just seemed odd that something that's supposed to add extra protection does that.
