Cleaning up bleed?

Hey guys. I'm using Createx Illustration color's on gessoed hardboard. I ordered some frisket film but thought I could try using clear contact paper in the meantime. It worked but I had bleed under despite burnishing the edges. Can anyone provide some tips on the best way to clean this up? Here's a couple of photos for reference.

Not sure if this will work but possibly erasing just that layer of red paint, maybe I tiny bit of reducer on the eraser tip will help.

There's really no solution for something like this that I am aware of.

That's what I thought. I tried erasing but it just lightened the areas around the spots. I'll try the reducer tomorrow.

It's alot of work but you could always mask 1/16 of an inch or the thickness of the biggest bleed threw and reshoot the red.
But you would need to match the shadow and highlights perfect or it will probably stand out like a sore thumb.

Do you think it would be easier to mask the figure and reshoot the background edge with an opaque white and fade back out with the yellow once i'm done with the focal figure? I still have the original mask I used when I shot the background. Might also cut up a shield. I think that would be easier to blend. Hmm...

If you shoot white over black you will get a blueish white called "blue shift", this can happen when using white over dark colors in general.

Also make sure you keep your tape very clean. I use a zip lock bag for all my tapes because if the edges get dust or crud on them it can create a jagged edge and will bleed.

Good tip, thanks!

I may just leave those edges as is. It's not that noticeable from normal viewing distance and it would give me something to look back on...say a year from now and remember how I improved my process.

What tape are you using? Or did I miss that in one of the other comments?

in the future you could spray some transparent base on the masking edge. it will stop paint creep.
i know it doesn't help with this but in the future this could be helpful.

I used cheap clear contact paper because it was all I had. I've got some frisket coming in the mail though

I spray the transparent base after I've got the mask down? That makes sense. Thanks
