Hi! I've been airbrushing lures for a few months now and have dabbled with the idea of expanding into other mediums to break up the monotony. I started with a Harbor Freight cheapo and quickly got an Iwata Neo after that. This weekend my fiance surprised me with a Iwata Eclipse HP-CS that I returned as defective after the chrome in the paint cup stripped off after just two color changes and clogged up the gun. Waiting on the new one to arrive now!
 
Hi, sorry to hear you got a defective one.
Just so you (and other newcomers) using products with ammonia eg windex unless you specifically get the ammonia free one, can cause the plating to disintergrate. I would assume it would take more than two colour changes though.

Absolutely! I noted this beforehand, and haven't used windex at all. Solely Medeas cleaner
 
I did see your other post after I'd replied here. I hope you get a replacement from Iwata quickly. They're pretty much a bombproof brush.
 
Since it happened so soon I was able to return the brush to Hobby Lobby. I just have to wait for them to stock another. With a 40% coupon it's hard to beat their price. Thanks for your warm welcome.

where do you call home and what gear do you have...... ok, so we know you have a dud airbrush but what paints are you using ??

40% off you cant argue with that !!
 
Sometimes the chemical used for plating are not to temperature and the right currents run through the bath which causes a weak coverage of Nickel plating. It very well could be there plater was half awake when he did that batch. I have an Iwata HP-C that has had the same happen, but the brush sprays fine still.

That happened to my Eclipse's side cup sometime in the last 15 years. I haven't noticed any reduction in performance though.

Welcome to the forum, it won't be long till they get some more stock. Make sure to check it before you buy it. Once you have it you will notice a difference from the neo. Enjoy your stay here with us.

Welcome to the nut house!!!! Yeah that sucks you had hell with your first Eclipse, theyre actually Iwatas most versatile airbrush in my opinion!! Dont get snake bit, go back with the HP-CS I really believe you'll love it! I love the triple action handles in mine!!

As far as the lur painting, I too just got into lure painting a year or so ago. I design and sale Stencils just for lures so holler if I can help ya!
