I'm not sure where to post an introduction. I suppose it is here? I just joined and I live on Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia in Canada.
I am a great grandmother and I have done almost zilch in airbrushing, but I just bought myself the new Paashe Talon airbrush. Mainly because it had 3 heads, and it was within my price bracket. I was looking on here and wanted some information on the brush, and decided to join so I too, could get tips and hints! :)
I have painted on helmets, motorcycles, snowmobiles and almost anything else. I do portraits in pencil crayon and a lot of acrylic work. Many years ago I used to do freehand lettering with 1-Shot, and I still use that paint to paint certain things. I work mostly doing 'hand' painting with a regular brush, but wanted to branch out into airbrushing as an enhancement to my hand work. I look forward to reading and watching this forum.
thanks jenni

Welcome from Australia Jenni,
yes you've posted in the right spot
lots of learning for you ahead, although your learning curve wont be as steep as some that have no background in arty stuff at all.

Don't be shy and make sure you post up some of your work in the gallery.

Welcome from New Zealand! You should fit right in here. You worked it out spot on. Break out the 1-shot, and the brushes, add them to your daily routine... Check out Mitchs site, airbrushtutor, plenty of good starters there! Look forward to seeing what you do!

Hi from Ontario....I have family on the Island, beautiful area.
I also own a Talon. It was also my first airbrush and is still my go to brush for alot of things. I mostly use the #2 setup. It gives great fine lines and will still do bigger areas. If you have any questions, I will try to help...
Cheers

Welcome Home Jenni, Nice to have you here, Great Grandma??? But you only look 21 to me LOL :D
A lot of folks love the fan tip option that the Talon has for base coat small objects . Feel free to post up some pics of you hairy brush work and lettering .

Hello Jenni, welcome to the forum! Many years ago we visited Vancouver BC, and yes its a beautiful place! My folks really enjoyed Butchart Gardens.

You have come to the right place- everyone here is very helpful, so feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Welcome from the UK Jenni. You live in a beautiful part of the world. I was lucky enough to visit Vancouver Island many years ago, visiting Victoria, and spending some time in Sydney, also camping on the beach, and whale watching (as us tourists do lol) - some of my happiest memories.

Get ready for a journey, you will love what the airbrush can add to your work, but it is a bit of a learning curve. But that is what we are here for. Ask lots of questions, and make good use of the search function, plus as mentioned, the free tutorials for beginners on the airbrush tutor site are a must (you will need a seperate registration there) . Don't be shy about showing your experiments and exercises here, advice can save you a tone of trial and error, or even let you know you are on the right track and to keep going.

Plus, many of the members are soooooo nosy, so I will echo Mr.Micron and ask to see some of your work on their behalf. Not for myself of course, as I am not one of the nosy ones :D

Welcome aboard! I too started with normal brush and hand work, and branched out into using an airbrush. I enjoy combining the two to get many of the results that I am after.

Ask questions when you have them, we will do our best to answer them. Above all, remember, you are just starting to learn, and don;t be afraid to try, try, try! It will come together for you in short order.

Welcome to the forum Jenni, Your Talon is best with the medium setup,I think it's 0.38 , @twood mentioned the #2 which I think is the one. I brought the fine setup #1 ? on mine and had loads of trouble with paint flow so went back to the medium #2 and painted "Cameron Diaz" (one of the airbrush tutors exercise pieces) and a couple of other pics. Its slightly on the heavy side but a pretty good airbrush. Watch the needle if you work with the needle cap off, they are very easy to bend. Enjoy your stay with us, check out Airbrush Tutor and his practice pieces they will help you on the steep learning curve. If you need help, just have a search on the forum or post a question. There is usually someone in the live shout box as we're all over the world and up at different times if you want a chat or need to ask a quick question.
