Just received HP-C Plus. Questions...

I just received my Iwata HP-C Plus from Amazon, fulfilled by Amazon for a company called Painttool Japan.

Everything seems pretty good so far, but a few things got my attention. Maybe someone here can clear things up for me.

First, the picture on the box shows the brush saying "Japan BM" on the side. My brush inside says "Japan SK". There's no spray test card like I thought was included with these brushes. The trigger feels...okay. Not like butter or anything. Lastly, the pre-set knob has a small, uneven indentation on it that appears to be from the manufacturing, since it's chromed over.

Do these things sound normal, or should I be concerned? Sorry, it's my first time owning an Iwata, and my first time handling one in over a decade or more. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, as I'm still waiting on hoses and connectors. Thanks.

From memory I believe that it's the Microns that have the test sheet, the HP C should feel smooth but not Micron smooth if that makes sense

The letters that follow "Japan" are a date code that identifies the brush as an Iwata, and is a date of manufacture code. Test spray paper only comes in a Micron box.

Post a picture of the "damage" that is chromed over.
I bought a brand new micron that had the damage in the picture but iwata sent out a new immediately even before the received the damaged one.

If it bothers you contact iwata, I can give you the person email who I dealt directly with. You'll have a new brush in a few days or just exchange it threw amazon if you have a prime account, they will send a new brush out tomorrow morning and you'll have it sunday.

Personally I would exchange it, just knowing it's there would bother me.

Yeah, I kind of feel like it might bother me, too...but that's silly, right? I hate being like that. Sigh. I'll probably at least wait until I can test it out.

I owned some HP Plus Iwatas and never saw such marks, it's even strange to see. All ABs from Eclipses to Microns had perfect finish. Honestly, I would also not be excited seeing this.
To exchange... I don't how it would be. Coast is good shop which would exchange fast. I'm not sure about Amazon.
You've got good advice to contact Iwata representative. I'd contact Iwata first, especially you can have straight contact e-mail.

All my "old" High Performance Plus airbrushes came with test sheet like micron does. BUT. All of them were in plastic cases. Now only microns come in hard case, all other series - in cardboard boxes. It happened kinda three years ago or smth. Maybe from that time they also don't do test sprays for High Performance... I think people who bought "new" High Performance series would tell you. I also curios to hear that. Iwata cuts expanses for production?

If it was fulfilled by amazon there is zero issue with returns being a prime member. go threw the steps to return and either choose replacement or refund and you will have a new one shipped tomorrow morning.

I had a test spray sheet when I first bought my HP-BH a couple of years ago but it was a discounted shop display model that had been there for several years, the date code suggested 2001, so I think they stopped doing test sprays on models other than the micron shortly after that.

Okay. This is rather embarrassing. Please disregard this thread. I was, to put it mildly, mistaken. The brush is cosmetically perfect.

Wish I could edit those earlier posts. My apologies.

Could be - I just went into the studio and checked all my Iwata boxes - the only spray tests I have are with the Micron's... All the Iwtata brushes I have now have been purchased in the 2010+, with the date codes having some of them at early 2000's.

Nah don't sweat it- we will simply never let you live this down :p

Seriously though, $200 is a big chunk of cash at least to me. There's nothing wrong with verifying you got what you paid for, especially if you are new and don't know what you're looking at. Better to ask and find out for sure.

So now you have to tell us what the mark was :D you can't leave us in the dark

Lol I was thinking the same... was it just a smudge on the surface that looked like a scratch?
