Brand new, but a worrying mark.

Hi guys. Probably another Noob question haha, but... I took the plunge and ordered a spanking new HP-CS from www.Spraygunsdirect.co.uk . It has arrived and as I was admiring the beauty of it, I found what looks to be a tide mark on the inside of the cup. Anyone else had this from a new brush? Am I concerned about nothing?

When you received it wasxtye box taped closed with two circular pieces of clear tape? This looks like it may have been a shop model and re-boxed, it doesn't look nice but if threat of the brush is in good order I doubt it would affect performance, you could email the seller and send these pictures, if they can't or refuse to help you, you can polish these marks out with a dremel with soft polishing attachment, you can use white toothpaste or a paste made out of baking soda, the inside of the cups are just polished as standard and not chromed as the outside is.

Email the seller first:)

All the packaging looked correct. I've taken it apart and it's completely clean, even has a small amount of a grease looking stuff on the bottom pin of the trigger. The small plastic circles were also intact. There's nothing else to suggest it isn't from the factory. Thanks for the reply Buddy.

While Iwata does test some of their airbrushes they only use a very small amount of paint to do so . That high of ridge ring looks more like this was a used or reconditioned airbrush . I would contact the seller and send them the pics.

Thanks Mr Micron, I have done exactly that. I'm itching to give it a go, it's my first new airbrush! But I want it to be right.

Being you have already sent the pics straight out the box drop paint in it and go for it LOL

That's pretty much what I did! Haha. I spoke to the site and they said they would exchange or I could try a little polish and see what happened. All the marks lifted in no time and I've just got through a cup of paint!

What a great brush. I'm experimenting with pressures and reduction, but it's already a joy to use.

We did tell you you would like it:)
And you were definitely right! When I'm cleaned up, I'll post a picture of the cup after a polish. Difference is crazy.

It is amazing how much difference there are in the many different brands of airbrushes And how much that difference makes a difference LOL
But I will always suggest you try as many different brands and style of airbrushes. That is how I have come to love gravity feed of the side feed or siphon ones. But trying as many as the wife would let me buy :D Hey happy wife happy life and I have yet hooked up a/c in the garage so to hot to have to sleep in it ...

Now that looks much better :D and I am glad it sprays so nice for you.
Now go forth and paint me a master piece or at least go paint :D

Beautiful  so how did you polish it?
Just a very small amount of Autosol Metal polish on a pice of blue workshop paper, used my finer and thumb and it only took about 3-4 minutes. Then I cleaned the inside of the pot with Airbrush cleaner. Job done [emoji3]

They do test them radomly, but they usually put the test paper in the packaging. It may be a return, a tad worrying as they didn't inspect well enough to notice the dirty cup. But as long as it works well and the original issue was resolved, any parts replaced etc, it's all good, Regarding polishing, now that it's clean, I wouldn't do that again if you don't need to. The chrome plating is fairly thin, and it does wear off over time anyway. It's only cosmetic and does not affect performance at all, so when it does wear it's no biggie, but polishing may make it wear quicker.

I love this brush, you made a great choice, time to enjoy!
