Hey guys, I picked up some Com•Art neutral grays today from the local Jerry's. It was a total of (28) 1oz bottles for about $56. I was wondering if you guys think it was a good deal.

Ended up with:

5 - 10% neutral gray
6 - 20% neutral gray
5 - 30% neutral gray
4 - 40% neutral gray
1 - 50% neutral gray
6 - 60% neutral gray
1 - neutral white

I've heard people say they like these and I figured I could get in some good practice on values using these. The only ones I ever tried were the ones that came with my Eclipse. Anyone care to share your experience with these paints? Tips/suggestions welcome. Thanks

Com-Art is very similar to E'Tac EFX. It is on the thin side and can be reduced with airbrush medium and water. It erased best for me on Illustration board. On Gessoed panels it was a lot mor difficult to erase. I have never used it on clayboard. Be careful it was very easy to skate for me.

I've been using Com-art colors since I began airbrushing in the 80's. It is not the only paint I use, but one I have always felt I could depend on when I needed to. They are very consistent, and have remained so over the years. About my only gripe with them, and part of the reason I use other stuff, is that some of the colors tend to be a bit dull, or muddy - when compared to other brands. Not such a big deal when you are working with Gray's ;). Generally, retail on the 1oz. bottles runs right around $3 - so you saved for sure over retail. I will however mention that I often find the sets (10 colors) on sale for around $19.00.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Now I have more paint than I know what to do with. I should be set for a while. [emoji23]
