olympos sp-b nozzle question

One photo explains a lot;) I'd never guessed that from looking at the AB body.
Dave, are the air nozzles interchangeable between 100 and 200 series?
How do you find 200 compared to CM in control of starting the paint flow and pulling thin lines?

Yes, the nozzles from the 100 and 200 are interchangeable, as I removed both, and then threaded the 200 nozzle onto the 100 body - I did not however try the brush this way, but have no doubt it would work.

Hmmm, comparing the 200 to a Micron... They are different. The best way for me to describe the 200 is that it is soft. I think because the air is so restricted through the brush body, and head pieces. In use, the brush is very quiet compared to others - even when operating at the same, or higher air pressure set at the tank regulator. Paint initiation is very easy, although paint consistency is very important vs. some other brushes. Detail and fine line work is natural with the brush, as atomization is very nice. Not quite a Micron, though - If it were an Iwata, I would say the 200 is like a super-tuned HP+ brush, and would fit between the Highline, and Micron in the food chain.

Well described:thumbsup: I thought maybe 200 works like MP and SP due to the nozzle type, but not. So this series maybe in the list to buy somehow, but not the first among AB "wishes" (AAD you know:)).
All Olymposes have very soft spray, at least those models I have so I'm not surprised 200 is the same as other from the family.

Well, shoot - after all this conversation, I got the uncontrollable urge to test all of this out - ordered everything I need to assemble a few different variations. I'll be back with results when pieces arrive. Had actually planned to purchase a different brush, but now that will have to wait...

Awesome @DaveG looking forward to the results and how long they take to arrive.

I'm going to be ordering a 200 series olympos and the nozzle to put the parts onto my 100-sb olympos.

Last ones I ordered arrived in about 6 business days... It is the weekend now, so I figure maybe ship Tuesday, might be here by the end of the following week.

That's a really good price $150 for that.

Anyone know what trigger that is in the ebay ad? Also does the teflon packing from the HP Plus fit the olympos brushes.

The one on ebay is 15min from me.

It is a good price, and I would jump on it if he had used the guts from the 200, or a micron for the chucking guide, and spring. Much smoother action... Also more interested in the .18. The packing screw and seal from Iwata should screw right into the Olympos body - look several post ups, as I included photo's to answer that question.

Ok guys I haven't read hardly anything in this thread but I saw this on ebay and looked kinda like what you guys are all talking about.

Yes, that is basically what we have been talking about - only not done as far as I would take it. I plan on replacing all the needle chuck, guide, spring retainer, etc... He also did it as a .23, while I prefer the .18. Round trigger button will be replaced with the F1 flat, tapered top and the rear handle will be from the MP and SP series, rather than the A series.

I'd also guess that with the timing of the Ebay post, that this forum is still being read:p

Yea all that one on ebay is a 100-sb with a different needle, nozzle and trigger and a "special" aircap which was previously discussed as well.
Personally I would not consider that very close to a micron especially for not too much more you can get an actual micron.

I personally look at it like it is a side feed airbrush, that I would guess sprays pretty nicely - the sum of the parts has me looking to compare it to an Iwata HP-SB+ . So, the price looks pretty decent to me. Had I not just ordered all the brushes I just ordered, I would be looking at it much harder, that is for sure.

Well I don't know if you bid on it but you would be buying it from Frank Artale-Olympos as he is "paint-huffer". I know this without a doubt as I purchased my brushes from him...

No I did not purchase it, didn't really see a need to since I have a cm-sb V2 and a olympos hp-100sb that will soon have the 200 series internals and the 62 air cap, I just need a hp-sbs and my collection will be complete......... for now
I wonder what the final bid on that hp-100sb was from frank

If you hit the hotlink, it topped out at $119 as a BEST OFFER. I noticed that he used an HP-200 rear end rather than the Micron rear end that mine has. Odd choice but I now think that Frank was buying the B grade brushes and was playing "mix&match" to produce the brushes he sold. Mind you, I'm not calling him out but stating this was a bit questionable in my eyes. An experienced airbrusher can tweek a B grade brush by giving it a thorough inspection and sort out the flaws. Not informing the buyer of this going in before making a purchase isn't good business IMHO.

Your micron rear end is that everything behind the packing seal internally? Besides having the micron chucking guide what else is there from a micron and what's the advantages? Smoother operation?

I posted the picture earlier- the guts of the 200 are the same as a Micron. It is everything from the packing seal back... There are more adjustment possibilities among the parts.

mine should be here within the hour - will be back with more picts and description(s)

thanks DaveG, I thought the pieces from the 200 and micron were the same but wasn't sure. I'm really looking forward to your post about the new pieces you are getting.

I went back and looked at my earlier post, and really all the parts and descriptions are covered in it. Not much more I can add - other than now that I have all the new pieces assembled as an HP100sb using parts from the 200b to convert it to a .18 - I have a fabulous little brush ;)!

I will be working on a write up, but will come back and post it as new thread, so it does not get lost in here.

Word of caution - I bent one of the 200b .18 needles by looking at it wrong:D:eek::cry:

Dave, thanx for burning up an AAD:thumbsup::D

That's why I don't use original taper of Olympos needles, it's usually sanded to a shape I like. But it's better to change the needle at once, as it will be bent at first touch of something harder than air:) Though the ABs are good;)

So, was I right about how nice this parts combo is????? How close would you rate it to the Micron from a handling perspective? I ask as everyone seemed to want to play "pile on the new guy" for daring to mention it was close to the all mighty Micron -but what about now?! Did you get the HP-62 back fluid nozzzle cap as well?
