I have searched for a while for a forum with a diverse, practical and adventures members
I have not been airbrushing for very long and I use it for decorating fishing lures it's probably not the most artistic use. What ever floats your boat Hay
As a CnC machinist those airbrushes have me intrigued how they work and the fact that they have not changed much in the last 50 yrs principle wise and would love to knock one up in the future. So I will be scourings the old posts, so I don't plow the same ground to much

Hey there, welcome from New Zealand. A few lure types here. What sort of gear do you have? What part of the world are you in?

Welcome Paul. The custom lure hobby is pretty big. Quite a few here doing it as well.

I would be great if you could take a go at a new airbrush. I want someone that can make me a custom handle for my Micron. Nobody wants to take on such a small job. I even thought of getting a small hobby lathe and do it myself.

Thank you for your warm welcome
Hi I live in OZ Port Macquarie, NSW
I have a cheap Taiwanese branded Blackridge 0.2,0.3 and0.5 with 7cc cup from SCA, I need to buy some more AB,s as I will be painting lures 100 at a time and is, one of the reasons for joining this forum I was going to buy 3 or 4 $66 Paasche TG Talons. The forums posts have made me reconsider, I really need to try some other brands to know the differences as you can see my budget is tight I wanted to stay with a common line of AB,s it's easier on the spare parts on hand.

AndreZA you don't muck around "get'em while there green" Ay I have quit my job I had at a plastic injection die shop to started a new business
Give me nudge after Xmas I hope to have things more under control by then, I would need the main body thread bolt and the paint limiter screw it's not that hard unless you want it out of titanium .The custom part of Iwata,s is when they assemble them they have size specific bins and assemble from there
to have that CM- Micron fit

Welcome from Adelaide, I agree with Mark, the eclipse is a great workhorse, can do enough detail for lures.
Airbrush megastore is a great place, good prices & great advice from Steve if you need it.

Welcome to the Forum from another Lure painter, seeing that you plan to paint 100 lure's at a time You might want to get a few bottle feed type airbrush's and a small manfold to hook them up to that way you won't have to clean the airbrush out between colors ,Just pick up the next color in line and keep painting.:thumbsup:

hay Mark If there is one overwhelming thing I have noticed on this forum is an Iwata Revolution or Eclipse are considered minimum requirements
I have been looking at H&S as there's a lot of commonality in parts from the ultra to the top of the range . But have not made up my mind yet

Hi basepaint would love to share some tips with you on lure masks and templates I have a Festo manifold with 4 regulated outputs already from a salvaged pneumatic system I was upgrading for Nestl'e and I have a paint booth from a retired very well known lure maker in australia, Bottle feeds are a good solution just not a fan of syphon feeds only because of the extra air pressure needed

Either one is good. I wouldn't call them minimum "requirements" rather a good sound no nonsense brush that will last and not disappoint. People will try take cheaper options (it is hit and miss unless you really know what you are doing) and that leads to tears before bed time. Don't skimp on brush or paint! I can count on one hand the number of people who are disappointed by the eclipse - and I think they are confused as well... :)

Just remember his prices shown are pre GST.... but even so, he’s the cheapest I’ve found, really quick on the delivery too

Make sure you let us know what is on your list, we can help you add to it to minimize postage cost from multiple orders. Try and get a spare needle to suit your new airbrush.

Ok while I am still green and can get away with dumb comments what's the etiquette regarding commenting on old post how far back is too far 3,4,6 months or years and or do I just repost with a question specific to my current issue

What ever you feel comfortable with.
If you find a post that sparks a related question then you can ‘raise the dead’ or if you prefer you can start a new thread. There are no statute of limitations around here.
