UltraSonic Cleaners

Detail Decepticon!
Has anyone or does anyone use a ultrasonic cleaner to clean their airbrush. I just received one and it does a really good job at cleaning. Just wanted to know if anyone else had some experiences with them.

I've got one, but really don't use it that often. There are a few brushes that have benefitted from a soak, and a cycle or two in the ultrasonic, but is has not become the routine that I thought it might. I can say on a couple of occasions I got a bunch of crud out of a nozzle or two that really surprised me... but I think these days I am more consistent with my spray-out routine at the end of a painting session.

I've gotten alot of gravity fed bottles and parts clean with mine. But to do so, I had to do what you're "not supposed to do". And that's as far as I'll go on that.

I have one and use it on occasion. I have put nozzles, needle caps and needles through it and it does seem to help. I had a cheap airbrush that I played with a couple times before I bought my Eclipse, that would let paint into the main body. The ultrasonic helped to clear paint from there, but left the trigger grindy and wouldn't release properly when pressing down for air. Some lube sorted that out though. Seems to work pretty well for nozzles though.

I still struggle a bit with me Eclipse nozzle. I've tried soaking it in Restorer, Acetone, cleaner. I scrub for ages with an inter dental brush and it still looks like it has tiny leaches through the inside of it.

just be careful with your nozzles in that cleaner it uses vibrations to clean and the container is metal so chances are you damage your nozzle in it , I have one but I only use it to soak / clean the side feed cups after using etac PS or AG 2050 but never my airbrush

Mine has a plastic cage to hold stuff in. Luckily the holes in it aren't big enough to let the nozzle through.

or you can make a small 'bag' of stocking, secure with a rubber band. place in unit and you'll never lose a thing

That's genius Jackie! [emoji3]. Now I feel like a Dumbass for the time I spent making sure the nozzle couldn't fall through the cage before I bought it LOL.

There are 1,001 uses for stockings :)
- a stocking can also be secured over the end of the vacuum cleaner nozzle to find lost nozzles or other tiny objects like small screws/nuts etc.
- stretch and hold over the end of your paint bottle when putting in the airbrush will remove any lumpy bits or dried crud
- can be stretch in an embroidery loop and sprayed through for interesting textures

I do actually use them to filter paint. I remove the cap from the bottle, stretch the stocking over the top, screw the cap back on then trim the excess with an exacto. Plus they keep my legs warm when it's cold in my shop LOL [emoji3].

I've had mine for years, Harbor Freight brand. When I clean nozzles & really small parts, I put plain water in the tub, fill a small Rubbermaid cup with non-ammonia window cleaner & run about 2 or 3 full cycles. Then brush with a small soft brush. I do this every 2-3 months and I get good results. With my SG100 Badger (no cup or siphon) I emerge the front end only into the cup and hold it for a couple of cycles, works well. The small cup saves on cleaner ($1.00 per bottle @ the dollar store) and is easy to change & keep clean. After I do my parts, I run my wife's Jewelery through, so it's a win-win situation...
