White paint

Dalboy

Double Actioner
While I was making the Riveted bowel and had to use the white paint I did notice that I did not have to thin it as much and if I tried to get close for the highlight dots on the rivet heads that I would get what appeared to be a thinner paint which is blown outwards ending up with a thinner patch in the middle. Is this due to having the air at a too higher pressure and if not how is the best to prevent it.

Yes it is from too high of pressure and most people call it spidering.
I had only one bottle of white that was like that, the others actually seemed to be thicker than the other paints.
At least with wicked the viscosity doesnt seem real consistent to me from one bottle to the next.

I had the exact experience with wicked.. speaking of white of wicked, i had encounter with thinning, it happen when i use 4012 but luckly i had found a solution with the help from the thread i did before, i had the paint gummed or sludge form after reduced even at any possible ratio, simply get rid with adding the transparent based works for me.

Oh yeah i remember. Still sounds like your paint got damaged. So adding trans base just replaced what the paint lost. Just a guess
Whatever it was...your paint definitely was different than any of Ive had

i had the same theory too. paint damaged=lost of pigment, paint mix trans base= happy paint lol. But it has to be exactly what experienced absher told, paint+ trans base mixed first and slowly keep adding reducer , it has something related to "shocked pigment" (wonder how bad was reducer looks like to those pigment) lol, im no expert just regarding of what works for me & my less pigmented paint hahaha

That sounds very likely. Thinner paint needs less pressure to push it through the brush, so if the paint is thinner, lower the pressure to compensate and the spidering will be lessened.

Thank you all I will have a go at reducing the pressure when using the white. It was just annoying that it happened as I was trying to do highlight spots on rivets.

Maybe you could use a usefull and great way or technique when you on white especially highlight & for the artwork base colour, ill refer to ryan townsend and the guy (forgot his name) from airbrush asylum" utube channel they would load a kinda "over reduced white especially for these kind of layer, im very sure they did for most of they white base on darker base, but sure a safer way to go when highlight, suggested begin with test panel to play with you magic ratio and psi.

Yes as well as over reduced.
