THAT filter looks VERY familiar.That tube helps a lot to dampen the sound. You can go a step further. I used a small square from a washing-up rag to cover the opening. I've found that you can go 2 layers before you are cutting off the air but I just stick to one. It works like another filter that keeps the filter cleaner for longer.
