Class project number two!

The Createx Bandit
Thought I might as well put this here!
I’m teaching my student about transparents and how we can create depth and texture with them :)
This is just Blue Violet mixed with Sepia, then that mix used again but with Magenta added!
Erasing around the eye, lots of freehand structure, next week we start the fur!

Thanks JackEb! I have another student starting next week! Free training for them and me! It’s a bear and chosen by my student!

well i'm all for credit where credit is warranted. You are doing so well with your students. The fact that they are producing what they do is a credit to you :)

PS, dont ever think you are going around the twist if you re-read some of your posts and something seems different.... I often correct spelling or gramatical errors. It makes for less confusion when you say you use megenta when in fact you used Magenta LOL I can envisage newbies hunting down a createx bottle of megenta

Gonna look good. So you are not showing your students how to transfer the image to the surface?
Thanks Andre, i made her freehand the eyes! She knows how to transfer images so not required with this project, but yes I would show them the projector/Corey StClair/computer line etc.

Look at you go being a teacher I remember back when you were just a mere student , Makes me proud to have watched you grow so much and so fast in this art form.
Thank you MrM, you know how I feel about you guys :)
I made myself laugh tonight when I said - let’s just wing this and see how it goes..... I will post their work when it’s done, it’s great to know that I can inspire people! I think that is more important than just giving techniques as such! It’s also forcing me to believe in myself and my knowledge :)
I very much enjoy the three hours!

More progress tonight, they done well, it’s a complex picture to paint! The smiles of surprise at the quality of their own was worth all the effort we’re putting in :) it’s like climbing a mountain together :)
The fur was made with transparent paints Sepia for the base then added violet to kill the yellow element. This was 3 hrs work, the scale is pretty tight as the whole piece is 200/300mm5CEF1950-3D44-4F13-BD5A-9CA2BFE31C4C.jpeg

I just look seeing how the student has become a teacher in just 3 short years. It shows you have applied everything you learned and practiced it a lot.
Your students are lucky to have such a great teacher
Thanks MrM, I’m definitely taking it slowly, growing with them :)

Your work blows my mind Mac. Although I haven’t witnessed all of the progress, I’ve gone back to look at some of your work and it’s amazing how far you’ve come. If your students are happy with their work, then it seems you’re a damn good teacher too...
You’re aware nobody likes a smart ass right?
LOL.

Na, I’m thinking I’m just happy little accident :)

Well tonight’s lesson was great, watching one student gain a level of confidence with colour mixing/matching that gave her the best smile :) while the other student went into panic mode!! But the idea has been planted, the seed will grow!
We each made our own blue for the sky, they used blue/orange/white and wanted to test the colour theory and used Blue Violet/moss green/white. We got very close :) we used various dryer sheets to creat some textures and also the skin texture stencil here and there!!! Lots of freehand tooF95359A5-6165-4FF1-A5EC-B8DD856C679A.jpeg

@musicmacd , can you elaborate on your sky colour mixing please. Did your students mix the Blue, Orange and White in the pot or overlay each colour on the substrate? Same with your colour choices?
Also, in what ratios to each ( 2 drops Blue, 1 drop Orange etc...)

Reason I ask, is I have issues (yea don't we all :) ) with mixing colour to get a correct target one.
