My Sister in laws Mom is an artist and recently decided to move her studio to downsize a bit. She had seen some of my Airbrush work on FB and sent me a message asking me if i would give her my address so she could send me some old Airbrush books. I jumped at it. I got the package and opened it up to find an old Paasche VL (entire kit with 5 needles and nozzle sets and multiple jars) and 3 very cool late 70's Airbrush books. I WASN'T expecting a brush. WOW!

I had always heard about VL's ability to lay down paint. I disassembled the whole unit, paired up the parts correctly and reorganized them and installed a 5 needle and nozzle set. Yesterday i decided to load up some custom Blue (with added Pearl pigment) in it. I had trouble shooting it through my Talon because of the .25 needle.

    This brush lays PAINT! OMG!

Ive used it numerous times today for some washes and to lay heavy pigment.

This is yet another reason i love the art community. People are very generous.

There is one needle in there that has no legible marking that i don't know what it is for. It is milled flat on one side of the TIP. Any ideas what thats for?

Awesome surprise to find at your door.

LOL recently being the victim of this type of surprise myself, I know exactly how you feel, kind of restores a little of the faith that life has a tendency to rip out of us, so if you are half as happy as I was then you are delighted, and I am as happy for you as I was for myself, I wish you very many years of pleasure from it all:thumbsup:

This brush is seemingly indestructible. It hardly ever clogs (I guess that number 5 tip is the cause of that). As soon as i got it all cleaned up and lubed nicely, i grabbed a piece of my famous drop cloth and went to testing. Three test shots or bursts and off i went. It sprays SUPER heavy. Took some getting used to.. Full trigger and it will empty a 2oz jar in well under a minute. Hahahaha. Fun though. This was with a #5 needle and nozzle. I think it is a 1.0mm. Thats huge.

I believe is about 35psi. I usually spray about 50psi on canvas and craft paint. Otherwise it clogs. I think I had it set a little lower though from a previous project. :)
