Somebody ought to change your screenname to Rick "Bobcat" Martin ;)

You need to hurry up and freakin move so I can come visit and see what you do with pencils! And do some airbrushing... and play with your Iwata and my Krome... and go terrorize Hobby Lobby... :)

Just very lightly with a blade scratch some detail into the surface of the green part of the irises without going all the way through the paint, then with the same blade scratch going all the way through to white a couple of dots in the same place on each eye, you'll be amazed how quickly the glazed effect will appear when you do that.

Keep your scratched detail in the bottom two thirds of the iris fading away as you go up, keep your dots in the top third of the eye in the same place, so if your dots in one eye are on the top left corner, the dots on the other eye will be in the same place, there is no harm in puting say one dot top left or top right of tge pupils and another one next to them in the iris, it's up to yourself, just keep both eyes close to the same.

You can also scratch a couple of small white lines on the bottom eye lids to make them look moist.

If you have a white pencil add the detail into the irises with that, you should still be able to do the highlights with a blade if your careful, or you can try to erase them.

Since your using pencils normal practice (for me anyway) would be to decide where the highlights would be first and then draw around them, I would be using different greens for the irises and let the detail take care of itself, if there are white areas on your image you should always try to preserve them, this is far easier to do with pencils than an airbrush since you don't have to deal with over-spray.

Tip: stencils can also be used for erasing

I use prisma color pencils with strathmore colored pencil paper. It doesnt like to be erased on very well so on my next one i have to watch my highlights.

Geez a warm dry day off that I can do some painting would do me wonders. A week off with a fat wad of cash would be even better!
