    Hey Guys and Girls,
Being that I want to learn Automotive style Airbrushing, I thought it was about time I tried some Candy2o. I bought the Craig Fraser Skullmaster stencil too as Craig is a big inspiration to me.
Really I sat down to play around with the candy and the stencil, so this image was not planned, I didn’t have any reference and didn’t necessarily go about things the right way. But I did enjoy it a lot!
This is where I got to on my own.
The skull is darker than I wanted as I laid down the eyes and nose too dark, so had to balance it all out.
The ever helpful @Mr.Micron showed me where I could add some highlights to help the image out, so I went back in and did that, then put down some clearcoat. The candy looks more patchy in this pictures than it really is. I think that’s because the Bristol board warped a little, so the light it catching it at different angles.
The next photo will be after the highlights and clear coat. As soon as I have some decent daylight, I’ll take one.
Thanks for looking. Any advice / critique is always welcome.

Thanks Buddy. It is way more metallic in person, even without the clear. Open invite Bro, just sayin. :D

 Ok its been a long day... I read the post, looked at the pic, and even commented... all while never registering who posted that lol

I think if I ever get to meet you in person, the first thing we are gonna do is jam. Then, if we remember, we will talk airbrushing

If they are urethanes, would that make them suitable for painting a guitar?

Really well done. Not sure what you had originally intended regarding how dark the details are, but the end result you got really gives it some depth.

    Thank you, I appreciate that.
    It’s all with Createx products:
    Autobourne Silver Sealer
    Course Aluminium Base
    Green Candy2o
    Wicked Black

It’s certainly the paint that Createx recommends for Automotive, but not Urethans Solvents or anything like that.

Thanks Neural. I think I wanted more contrast in the detail. But I’m still pleased with elements of this.

So u mean to say all these are acrylic? How good would an acrylic based sealer be for something that is exposed to the elements all the time?

Yes. I should have said that the Clear Coat is a solvent based aerosol, just a Rustoleum Clear. If it was going outside, I would use a 2k Clear.
But to answer your question... I don’t know. I’m only going by the manufacturers info that the Wicked and Autoair products are an automotive grade pigment and suitable for The purpose. I know there’s a bunch of professional paint jobs on Kustom Cars that we’re done with Createx products. But some of the other guys here will have to take the lead on the chemistry side of things.
Robbyrockett, looking in your direction .

Nah, there’s no such thing as silly questions when you’re new to all this. I’m about 6 months in and am learning all the time. I put Robby on the spot because I know he has a ton of experience painting all kinds of different surfaces for indoors and outdoor. Plus he’s kind of an equipment / paint nerd that researches the hell out of stuff. I love doing the research, but Robby is able to translate it all so that an idiot like me can understand it.

    Sweet little skull!!!

Have you the texture fx1 by artool? If not get scotch brute pad and tear it and experiment spraying through it at different heights (the pad from paper) it makes easy textures!!!

I don’t have that stencil yet, I have some Frey from Herb that I have yet to try properly. I’ll give both the scothbrite and the Frey. Thanks for the tip MacD.
