Btw, one thing I learned from Microns videos here is I spray way way way to fast......

Also, I keep checking but never heard or I missed it what ratios you got that candy to flow right. Tried it last night and had the same issues SiRoxx had.

Think I just found it. 15 drops 4030 6 drops reducer 5 drops candy. Amazing what you can hear when the wife’s not chewing your ear off

Edit 10 drops candy and more reducer

That’s right Joe. The important thing I got was that it matters what order they’re put into the cup. So now I go, 4030 then Reducer and the Candy in last. If it’s needs anymore reducer that can be added after as long as the bulk of it is added to the 4030 before any Candy.

And the spraying too fast this is a common issue that we all have to get the hang of when learning. I’m always having to remind myself.

These bullet points seem familiar :)

Was that a bit too soon?

On a serious note, great set of vids Herb. I watched them all and enjoyed seeing you paint. Good thing about candies is that you start off light and have to build up the colour. Hard to go wrong/too dark straight away. I haven't seen them for ages but i have the Dan Powers painting with candies dvd set which was an interesting watch. Now I'm subscribed i will see when you post something new. @SiRoxx Good to hear you have learned something from the vids and from the great advice on how to mix the candy 2O. I can say I have also learned something so it's a thumbs up all round. Good luck trying everything out, looking forward to seeing what you paint with them.

That’s great that you got something out of them too Lee. The forum working at its best!
I’m working in something at the moment, but the next one I’m wanting to try some True Fire, so that’s where the Candy will come into it. But whatever the results I’ll be posting, so you’ll get the chance to see the outcome.

I did a Real Fire class with Mick Neill and I really enjoyed it. Solvents were used and they come out the best IMO although the waterbased stuff is now at the same level so expect waterbased true fire to be up there with the solvents. No pressure @SiRoxx

And yea, I now love 4020 reducer. Picked up a small bottle at hobby lobby and gave it a try with wicked detail....boom baby, smooth as butta! Now to get me a big ole bottle. Might have to order that one or, go to hobby lobby every day and get a small one at 40% off. Lol

I seem to have been using 4020 for a lot while now. My local place had it in special, I like it too, but I’m going to have to try 4012 again to compare them.

I am not going go pro , I think I found what was causing the glitch and as soon as the battery gets recharged I am going to see if the changes fixed the camera jumping

yep, water-based is no longer water-based once you add a thinner containing a solvent :)

Jackie like most of the pros I do where a mask except when I was making the videos , But my garage is well ventilated and I never make a cloud of over spray, When I clear I take it up to my other garage and put it in the spray booth and suit up even with rattle can clear.
    Yes folks safety first.

You and I and many others know that many don’t wear a mask while making videos, we just don’t want newbies thinking that because they’re use to being unmasked with the waterborne stuff that they don’t need it with 4020 and other solvent based additives as @OzAirbrush has pointed out

They should have on a mask even with the waterborne stuff :D
But I guess I should point that out in my next video .
