It was brought up that we have not had a challenge in some time.
So kronek67 and haasje dutchairbrush have sent in two very challenging reference photos that will push you to the limit.
Now before you get to see these two awesome references there has to be some type of rules.
    1. You must have less then 9 months airbrush time (some folks start out and give up then start again after finding this awesome forum).
    2. no prizes just bragging rights and the sense you will feel for accepting the challenge.
3.Time line Jan 1st until Feb 28th That is 2 full months to paint this up a few times.
    4. Judging will be the entire forum(last time it was done by a few chosen few)
    5. Have fun :D If you are not having fun what is the point of living...LOL

Now for the two reference photos. You may choose one or both that is up to you. 8378-1419898662-b9b2d16107a8fdd9d9cbcbd7ef10940b.jpg alba1.jpg

Have fun and just respond to this post that you accept the challenge...

Yes! Great refs too thanks guys. Looking forward to seeing what all you newbies do with these! The last challenge blew my mind, and I think some people who were skeptical about trying, amazed themselves by what they achieved. So, who's in?

I'm going to give the Clint Eastwood one a shot. At the rate and time I have to paint I doubt I'll get it done in time, but I'm going to do it anyway. I'ts such a cool reference and it'd be a good one to give my Dad if it turns out okay.

I will take this response as a "I will give it a go" which means even if you put your name in and find that you either lack the skills at this time or just lack the time to do it does not count against you .
I suggest anyone who wants to try to do so . But only those who meet the requirements will be judged:D

Mainly the time line is to get folks use to working in a time line.

    Of Course I'm in.

I'm glad to see the 2 month time line. I was hoping for at least a month so that I could order my new airbrush and have a little time to practice. I have to do the Dirty Harry one. I'll do the other one as well, even if I don't have time to finish. Looks like Jessica Alba. These are too very different references. The results will be interesting. I'm interested in seeing the approach people take to Clint Eastwood / Dirty Harry.

On the Dirty Harry reference, that was the highest resolution photo I could find after searching the internet for two hours. It does have some graininess to it, but it was taken in 1971. Cameras did not do so good in dark or high contrast light back then. I actually like the graininess and will try to incorporate it for an additional challenge to myself. Might as well go all in.

There is a larger Reference photo of Dirty Harry / Clint Eastwood in the members gallery. You can enlarge it better without getting as pixelated.

I agree! I'd try to paint her but I don't think I'd be able to stay focused on the canvas.
