I have some and have really never used it. For tonight’s practice I figured I’d use it like waste paint.....ummmm,, not anymore. Wow that stuff sprays great out of my Ps-770. Like wow nice.

So the question, why does no one seem to favor this paint for like illustration type stuff. I mean straight out of th bottle it sprays like silk. I mean if anything no messing around with reducing etc and I have to think media, Iwata, whoever knows what works best in the airbrush line they make.

So, what gives..this stuff seems like the cats meow to me with the limited time I’ve used it.

Now for outdoor, auto etc I understand why not.

    Thanks Peeps

It was before, if you look around you will see Drisco colors, and other great airbrushers. As everything this days is the more you marketing your products the more people think that you are the only good one out there. I´m trying Liquitex and works better than Com-Art in mi CM´s straight out of the bottle, the same with Schminkel!
But as @JackEb said, not every one can get them cheap.

    Like Marcos stated...... Marketing mostly.

There is no one product fits all, The Createx is probably more readily available for many, and Createx can be used on automotive surfaces so if someone plans on doing work other than just 'wall art' then its more economical to get just one paint system rather than others.

I've always suggested newbies try Com-art / Etac efx for the very reasons you just discovered.
You can concerntrate on getting paint on paper and gaining your confidence..... if you decide you want to try your createx again later then you'll find it easier because you already know what sort of consistancy and opacity you are looking for :)

mainly cost , most of the comart sets only come in 1 ounce bottles, which is 3.75 per ounce, where are for the most part WICKED is 5.75 for a 2 ounce bottle or 2.87 per ounce. if you live in the USA and have a hobby lobby close by you can cut the price by 40%
But it is more a fine art paint vs and anything paint.
But as for a great spraying paint it does rank number one in my book.

Its not just marketing, its marketing through sponsored artists, a few famous and well respected pro's are sponsored (therefore, paid) by Createx and other to constantly plug their products forcing intermediate artists to believe there is nothing better, Com-Art is specially formulated by iwata media to perform well through smaller nozzles just like E'tac but no pro artist is being paid to tell you this, my name isn't Gerald Mendez so if I told you what you've now just found out, and I actually have, you wouldn't believe me, I know I mentioned right at the start of our PM that if Com-Art was readily available to me here in the UK in bigger loose bottles, I would be using it instead of Golden.

I started watching a video of one of the pro's, can't remember his name, I wanted to learn about process but this artist seemed to spend most of his time plugging everything H&S alnost implying his methods woukdnt work with any other brush so I stopped watching altogether.

No matter what the pro's are being paid to say, you find your own way and what works for you.

Thats funny, I really wasn't impressed by Comart ;) But everyone is different. I enjoy using the Wicked paints I have, and I'm loving the huge set of inks I got. I'm learning how to use Golden High Flow, and most of you know why. Theres nothing wrong with Comart, and if that's whats working for you go for it!

Different things work for different people, E'tac and Com-Art are reputed to be almost the same but I can't get anything out of E'tac no matter how hard I try, I've never had any problems with Com-Art, I have tried illustration colours and again, coukdnt get it to work for and tip dry was constant.

If two people used exactky the same paint with the same thinning, same brush working at the same pressure and the same substrate doing the same reference in the same way, their experiences woukd still be totally different, you play around until you find the combination that works for you, but when do find it that doesn't mean it will work for everyone.

As far as Createx products go, my main concern is the cost of all the extra fluids needed to make them work, all of which affect my health, I stick with paints I can thin with water and need nothing maybe other than a trans base which has the same structure as the paint itself, let's face it, any water based paint that needs a solvent to get the best out of it is no longer a water based paint.

For me, the Createx Illustration paint gives more options, I love the way com art sprays out of the bottle it’s great! But that’s it’s downside too - it’s almost too thin So getting good coverage takes longer, also I find it more fragile on synthetic papers.
    it’s brilliant on G4 paper!
With the reducer/paint method you control the “weight” of the paint, 3/1Red/Paint gives the same effect of comart, at least to me! I use com art with my daughter as it’s almost fail safe :)
Again as above, if you find it suits your style, be thankful that you’ve found your paint :)

I loved using Com-art. I stopped using it when I was introduced to E'tac. It really is a great paint and needs a bigger following. But like the other's have said, it is all about marketing. Just look how someone that has his own range in Com-art suddenly switches over to Createx.

Not sue it’s MY paint yet, I like the fact I can get some of the createx colors local. Golden as well is local. The more I learn about reducing etc and getting a feel for how thin it really needs to be then who knows what will happen. Just another tool in my toolbox. I will say the more I practice with my .18 I will be using com art as less headaches for me...for now

Thanks for that Marcos, the primaries are usually all I would use, I normally work onky with primaries + black and white and mix my own colours, its far cheaper but the smaller bottles in the sets are useless for this.

Yup, I bought 4 oz of each primaries, 4oz of black, 8oz of white and 16oz of Medium Base com-1-000-1, and then separate them in 1oz glass jars with droplets, to make them more confortable to use an because I live in a very very dry place and the original lid get stuck with dry paint.
