Differences

Rick Martin

Detail Decepticon!
Being im still new im going to ask a probably stupid question. What is the differences between a elclipse and a neo. I know ones japan and ones china. Both have .35 needle and nozzle setups. Does it go back to the air chamber being better on the eclipse. If i was to put a replacement setup for a eclipse in the neo i would assume i would get a little better peformance out ot it. Now the reason im asking all this and it is one of the main reasons i went with my evolution over the eclipse is because of that huge ass color cup sitting on top of it. I just dont like big color cups i have a hard time seeing over or around.

@DaveG , I'm yellin' your name here :D

The only things I know in regard to your post is that 'Neo' is made FOR Iwata, the Eclipse is made BY iwata.
Eclipse has different models from a smallish B cup, the C cup (which you appear to have) and the side cup

That's it, I'm done lol

The difference is in the materials used to make them and the precision of the machining, you would be throwing money away outing eclipse parts into a Neo, as Jackie mentions, a b cup eclipse or side feed would suit you better as well as being a better investment should you ever want to sell any of them.

I have a neo and I really like it for covering a large area. I've been told they are a piece of crap but so far I haven't had a minutes problem with it. I am using the small cup with it since I don't do large pictures but it came with a large cup also. The finish is good and inside the cup, it is slick and smooth. Also I bought it at Hobby Lobby with the 40% discount coupon and only paid $48.00 for it.
Now if I can just learn to finish one without messing up would be a miracle.

Rick, does the nozzle on the Neo screw in? On an Eclipse I believe it has a floating nozzle similar to your Evo. That being said I don't think it's even possible to put Eclipse parts on a Neo. As Jackie said, the Eclipse does come with a small or large cup.

Much of it has already been covered - The two brushes are very different animals. It is unlikely that I am going to go to Ford, and purchase a few spare parts for a Ford Escort and go home and improve the performance of my Taurus SHO (I don't really have a Taurus :)) In this case, with these two brushes, they are indeed made by two different manufacturers, and they are of different design. The nozzles are different, as are the internal structures of the head pieces. Pieces from one - don't fit the other.

The Neo is an introductory level brush, and they can be hit or miss on any type of performance in a big way. Kinda like a Paasche

Brushes come in many configurations, big cups, little cups, side cups, bottom bottles, etc... it can take a bit of trial an error to find the style and type that fits your personal preferences. That's why I have them all ;)

Rick, if you could just choose any brush out there that you think would be "it" for you what would it be? I don't mean, just automatically go for a Foxy Studios K33 SB, but in reality, from what you have seen, what would you choose?

I cant afford them all..oh well i asked and i got my answer..thanks everyone.

I am working on it. So far I have 15 airbrushes. Now if I could just learn to use any of them decently would be a miracle.
Each one has a different feel and spray pattern. It is all most like buying a new car but you can't drive it until you buy it. Be nice to test drive an airbrush before the purchase.

Thats a easy one ( preparing to get yelled at) master G48.

I'm not yelling. I think mine is a paasche H. Just have to watch the air pressure with it and adjust the nozzle just a little. I have an H that has an adjustment under the trigger that I can screw in and out to adjust the distance I push it down. Never seen one before I got it. It adjusts the amount of air to use. All most like a mac valve.

heck, no yelling here - I have the equivalent of a G48 as one of my daily use brushes. They can be a little hit or miss as well, but I have found generally not far off. I purchase the Point Zero versions (they are the identical brush), because they are less expensive, at @$21 or so. Also tells me you prefer a "B" cup brush, and there are whole host of them that fit that category - some extremely nice brushes, to boot.

If I can help with the G48 and any issues you may be having, please feel free to ask me anything! I can/will share anything I have found. Either here, or in message - if I can help, just let me know.

Its hard to explain it but that brush feels like a extension of my hand. I want to try the conversion you mentioned in the pm you sent me back because as good as i think it is wirh a smoother needle it can be better.

not so hard to explain to me :). I really enjoy this brush. Great trigger feel, smooth operation - it puts some more expensive brushes to shame in the comfort department. Sometimes they benefit from using an Iwata hp-B needle (I have some new Olympos needles I will try also - not as long of a taper as a micron, so maybe not as delicate). I have three different versions that also wear Micron heads and needles - 2cc, 9cc with .18 & .23 between them. They work beautifully.

I choose the master because the point zero brush i did have had a high trigger on it compared to the master.yeah i paid a little more but i really like the trigger on this one

Wait Dave im sorry that was a kkmoon brush i got rid of. I will have to try a point zero.do you have the one with the black handle or chrome.

Rick, any brush that you buy that you think is the same, should have a satin finished, silver rear handle - and o-ring between body and handle.

You will note on this brush there is no branding - although the paperwork that came with it identifies it as a Point zero.

there is an album on my FB page that outlines some differences - the Kkmoon is a completely different brush, although they do look very similar. I have a pair of Kkmoon in the 9cc size that work ok, but are way more paint finicky than this particular build - and I do not generally recommend them, because these brushes work much better.

The gold brush is actually a Kkmoon, although branded differently. I have since used the head from a PZ on it in order to make it worth keeping...
