Duraclear as intercoat?

Hello,
I came across duraclear at hobbylobby, retails for 8, but used 40% off so got it for $5.50 for 8 oz, its a polyurethane clear varnish.
It looks and flows super similar to autoair 4030 intercoat clear. Was wondering if anyone had any experience using the duraclear and if so how similar they thought it was as a substitute for 4030

Hi @Kuherrm looks like you've been here a long time... how about you pop along to the introduction page and give a proper greeting as well. Here is the link to help you out... http://www.airbrushforum.org/introductions/ Have a read of the nettiquette while you are there, explains a bit about us... http://www.airbrushforum.org/threads/introducing-netiquette.8799/

As to your question, it's a good general rule, what does the manufacturer say... what do they say it's suitable for... it may just be a straight clear... if in doubt, read the manual!!

Which manufacturer? Duraclear says it acts as sealer, varnish, gloss coat etc

Start with Duraclear then check the guys who make autoair... the manufacturers of any products you want to put together. Always start there first and if you aren't sure - maybe try a small test but remember they may look OK together but may fail quickly. If the manufacturers don't recommend it then I would say do it for your own work - not for others.

Just because it says it acts as a whatever doesn't mean it's compatible... you get sealers and varnishes and gloss coats in a number of different paint types and they aren't always compatible.

Just from expirementing with it, it seems to be working quite well, still need to contact manufacturers
