Looks like that one (which iwata seems to be having made in china as the neo), but also the one with a fan cap like a TH or 290
TBH I havent studied the trigger brushes enough to discern the exact matches for rich's patents

I'm sure Dave could point out exactly which of rich's patents match what...between mechanical knowledge and timelines of what came out when.

So i was trying to figure out if the guy had ever actually referred to another factory.... I dont think so.

Played around with translator a bit, turns out kitakatsu, kitajima and the north are all mistranslations of hokushin.
Though this character relationship is likely why a company lead by kitajima katsuaki is named hokushin....these words all virtually mean the same thing.

I have no idea how beijing got in there, but that was when he put the picture so then he was clearly referring to the hokushin factory.

My hypothesis is that he was trying to influence the translation somehow (possibly trying to use katakana to spell it how he thought we would say it in english) since its position in that particular sentence causes hokushin to mistranslate to north korea...an obvious mistake he would have known to correct.

and just to show the frequency
    Screen Shot 2018-06-02 at 9.11.49 PM.png

These are all shipments from Hokushin to Iwata all described as airbrushes.
The quantity is in cartons, each carton weighing approximately 15Kg
Other indicates shipment not as a full cargo container

Yes, those do look familiar. I have looked at that brand before. They seem to have much better prices for their spray guns than Iwata.

The spray guns are a lot closer in price than the airbrushes, but id expect that, it's a lot more competitive market.
I mean those airbrushes can be had for $85 dompared to their $250 counterparts.
where the spray guns are what 200/300 300/400
It's a bit odd though. Meiji seems to be big in.... India i think...idk.....To the point there are fake meiji's. But there are no US dealers, and one in canada.
I wonder if they actually have an agreement with Iwata as far as certain markets go?

According to this Iwata pays roughly $28 per brush
    Screen Shot 2018-06-03 at 2.31.41 PM.png
Id imagine if you've got $1700 a month to spend on airbrushes you could probably get roughly the same pricing

I've long believed that Iwata was making a killing off airbrushes and then claim it's what allows them to "advance" the airbrush design. I guess we are supposed to be appreciative with the CP2 micron stuff and how they took it to another level.

Your discoveries along with Dave's have certainly changed my outlook on the Japanese airbrush industry and who feeds who and who's taking advantage of who.

assuming they arent severely undervaluing their prices on the customs forms, but probably not. Thats actually not a very high profit margin by comparison to many products. Considering that doesnt include the packaging (which they buy from china) or repackaging labor. Printing their own manuals and so on.

Just to throw some more hypothetical stuff in there......
If say GSI or meiji or whoever buys from the same source, (meiji even keeps the RICH packaging). They probably dont get quite the price break iwata does So basically they just double what they pay....Pretty fair business basically.
Iwata tosses in a bunch of marketing and repackaging cost plus product support, then doubles or maybe triples the price...
Not as bad as it seems from looking at the $28 per brush figure

Allright guys, I had to dig deep but to be fair I did find a few sporadic shipments from anest iwata japan to anest iwata medea in the US
Marked spray painting equipment but carrying the 8424.20 code which is airbrushes.
    The last one was 2014.
Certainly could be evidence they made some at some point
Could also mean they quit buying them in japan and shipping them themselves and just switched over to direct shipping from their supplier.
    this is the originating address

Nevermind, HS code 8424.20 is spray guns and similar appliances, so those shipments could be any spray equipment.
Have to rely on the descriptions
