It's been a while since I've been posting in the forum, my wife and I moved into a 1925 Bungalow in the downtown historic district Memorial Day weekend of 2016. The new house didn't have a space for me to have my studio except for the blank slate of a 180 sq ft detached garage. I'm finally getting around to converting it into a studio so I can get back to painting.

Here are a few pictures of it so far. I am going to be re-framing most of it. Adding 4 windows and a door on the side. It will eventually have full electrical with HVAC, lighting , and ventilation. I'll post updates as I progress with the project and get back to it.

It's going to cost about $6000 for the renovation, but it will get me exactly what I've been wanting for a studio.

$6,000. Only because I am doing it myself. Contractors cost way too much.

It's going to be cool. We're moving in a few month as well and I will also be getting a garage for a studio. I will have to find a way to make it winter-proof. 8-12°c at night is cold in Africa and our houses does not have central heating or insolation. As it will be a rental I can not make permanent changes.

I have to do the opposite and make it summer proof. Summers are long and hot here. I will be using spray foam to seal all the gaps, but haven't yet decided if I will use spray insulation for the entire project, it gets quite expensive. The HVAC is going to be a 12000 btu mini split unit with a heat pump. I don't need heat much in Florida, but it will be available for the few times i do.

Good to see you around and that garage looks like it would be fitting for a shop and not a car LOL unless your car happens to have two wheels and a Harley logo on the side :D

Tore off about half of the siding. Framed out the door entry and starting the windows. The side and end will both have two windows doubled up.
The friggin guy who put the old siding on used framing nails, so the siding is a real bitch to remove.

Rough openings for the Door and Windows is complete.
It's taken 3 1/2 long days to get this far.
    This might take a while...
