I have days where tip dry is a 10 second occurance . . . some brands are worse than others. Createx is pretty bad for it, across the range,
Its a trade off, i can manipulate the paint better and for longer with the Createx, so i live with it and keep that Q-tip in my hand lol

A very simple way that helps me to combat tip-dry is to have an everyday sponge sitting next on the desk, soaked with some water. Every time I don’t spray, I simply touch the AB with the sponge. This is especially helpful if you work with the needle exposed, as the soft sponge won’t bend the needle, but clean it.

That’s exactly what I was saying, this would happen to me and I would take he whole lot apart and get a little frustrated that I couldn’t seem to find anything. I was so convinced that I damaged my fist nozzle trying to clean it. Looking back, it was just a case of on that day, too dry was really bad. But again with some more experience you’ll find an extra drop of reducer or changing the pressure will help. You’ll also begin to sense it coming. It’s weird but true lol. Glad the Q Tip is working for you.

before I used brush attached to my easel, but I hated that I need to move to the brush.

edit: maybe I will try ring with sponge piece :)

I know tip dry is the nature of the beast but what paints are LESS worse than others? I went at it again last night and it was horrible it was like you mentioned every 10 sec or so. I was going thru different brands to try to find what I was liking best. Guess it didn’t help I was cranky to begin with. Lol

Joe all paints give some kind of tip dry even urethane , Shop conditions , PSI and the phase of the moon all seem to affect tip dry , Some days I can paint hours with out any tip dry other days it is every few minutes. Nature of the beast so to speak.
Anytime you have air moving over a liquid you have evaporation aka drying.
Pick one brand and learn it 100% That means not only reduction of it but keep notes of the humidity in your paint area and temps , note the conditions when you have more tip dry vs less. It will give you a better understanding of how to reduce you paint or what air pressure will suit that days session.

I like it..now my new routine. Shop did seem a bit colder as well last night. I do need to quit experimenting with different paints. I’m just trying to decide on what one brand I want to use. Pretty sure I know which one right now...........golden

I am just trying to save you all the headache I had when I started and trying a lot of different paints to see which was easier for me to work with , That when I was told to pick one paint and learn it . Since then I have learned a few paints , Some I can work with others still are a pain yet others work with them so well.
You figure it out and yes when my shop gets cooler the tip dry increases , This morning according to the news we broke a record making this the coldest start of the day in 100 years LOL it was 29 at 5:30 AM and this is spring LMAO

My shop is our attached garage. I have the door sealed shut for the winter. Today it gets opened and the shop gets its spring cleaning. Hasn’t had a car in there for the last 20 years. It does however collect junk..stuff etc. drives me crazy

Like Herb has said, pick a paint and learn it. Then try others. I’ve said before I started with Createx (wicked detail primary) it did my head in. Tried E’tac EFX, loved it but I know Herb doesn’t get on with it.
Once I learnt how things should behave I went back to Createx and still have a love hate relationship with it. My paint may now be getting a little old but even with our autumn weather of 25C I’m getting tip dry !
My lack of time to paint frustrates me and that probably doesn’t help, I’m in a rush to paint and when things don’t go smoothly it just compounds the frustration.

Why don’t I stick with E’tac?? I love the range and erasability of Createx and I’m determined to learn it.

E'tac EFX is awesome. I can go for 10-20 minutes without having to clean the needle and then itnis just because of habit and not that it requires it. But I thin with mixture of water and Condition Air. It acts like a retarder.
