Loving what you have layed down so far
Sorry to hear about your Mother in law, hope all goes well will keep my fingers crossed
Looking fantastic so far, eagerly awaiting updates.
It's already coming to life. Definitely got the creepy feeling going
Sorry about the emergency, hope it all works out!
Thanks everyone. Its looking good for Mom. Her blockage seems to be correcting itself. We'll know soon whether she will need surgery.
Great start Cheryl,Hope your mom;s doing better too!
Thanks so much.
Here are some progress pictures.
Basically, I just sketched out the layout, getting the composition together. This is very rough and done entirely with white. No details here.
A close up of my white sketch of the skulls.
Then using black I went back in to work up the details and shading.
Here's a close up of the focal part of the mural. Part of it has been done with the black. Most of it is still very rough.
After I finish the black work, I will be going over the whole thing with another layer of white to re-establish the bright spots and increase my contrast.
Lots of tiny work being done here with my Micron. Sorry about the glare in the photos. The lighting in my studio made the photos at the top of the mural really washed out. Anyway it looks better in person. I didn't want to move the panel.
that's looking amazing Cal.
My gosh, between the creativity and the work this is freaking awesome!!
Thanks Greg. I'm glad that the composition part of it is together. Now I can really concentrate on the details.
Very nice, thanks for sharing, I have a whole roll of pre-mask that I've been wanting to try out like this.
Coming together now, looking forward to see it progress into the detail stage
Oh how I LOVE your goodies!! Looking great toots!
Looks great Calz
Looking epic. Glad you're able to get back on it
Love it, it is really coming together!
Thanks everybody. @Tocean to be honest, I tried using the frisket and masking and I work better freehand. I ended up peeling it off and just sketching with the micron. I can get away with it because this is a black and white composition. For some of the planning, I did use a Stabilo pencil, lightly sketched over it with the paint and then cleaned up the surface with mineral spirit. The Stabilo pencil will leave a trace if you don't clean it off. This works really well for me.
Thanks for the info, interesting.
